Ufone gave 18 mbps speed, while mobilink and zong gave 4 and 2 mbps respectively !

You mean when they were testing service couple of weeks ago? I think it would be because Mobilink and Zong might be testing 3G and Ufone might be testing 4g connections. I am not bothered about the speed right now as the speed will be stabilised after few weeks has passed regardless of the network provider...

4G means really fast internet, even 18mbps is bit slow when you talk about 4G. I am not sure in Pakistan but I expect to see at least 30-40mbps speed if they truly want to advertise themselves as 4g. In UK, they claim to provide 60mbps and on many places you do get at least 40mbps.

Pathetic round 5. Was expecting at least SOMETHING. We're probably gonna be disappointed again....

We have already hit the target of 1.3 billion dollars when you combine the total price of 3G and the base price of 4G.

The government should have been more optimistic and pushed to exceed the figure above 2 billion dollars at least. It's already above 1.3 billion dollars if the 3G licence was sold at this price and we don't see anybody bidding above the base price (that is highly unlikely).

It is being reported that Major cities will get the service within 6 months followed by 80 big cities in the next 1 and half year.

I think all the capitals (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta) will be receiving this service in the next few weeks, won't be surprised if they will start receiving service in the next few days.

PS: Since I have been using 3g and 4g since long time now, let me clarify that the service you will be receiving in Pakistan will vary from one location to another. Imagine you live in Islamabad, you might be receiving 5mbps in F-8 and 40 mbps in F-9. It will take time and infrastructure to stabilise and spread the network evenly. 3G is not a big issue, The speed of 4g may vary after few yards

That means 902 million dollars for 3G connection
Base price of 220 million dollars x 2 = 440 million dollars would take it to 1.322 billion dollars

I hope it's above 300 million dollars at least - so that's close to 1.5 billion dollars in total

Imagine it starts from tomorrow... may cover all the major cities till 2015 and may be all the major areas of Pakistan within 18 months. Not sure...

Consumers never say to the lion to take a bigger bite out of your thigh. Pakistan has only 26 or some odd % of direct involvement in cellphone companies. Rest is just taxes. And we get so many existing facilities for the amount of taxes we do pay. Talk to a laborer who fills his phone with Rs100 and pays 28% tax on it. So I am happy that these companies stood up to the government and told them to be realistic.
