Turkish Aviation Programs

For those who don't know, there has been some complaints from Airbus regarding Turkey's disapproval of the A400M - I think it was the one named "Koca Yusuf" - that stood ready for delivery to the Turkish Air Force. Here comes the details regarding Turkey's stance on this matter:

This is what Turkey wants from Airbus Military on A400M

C4Defence reached the details of Turkish claims on bargain between Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) and Airbus Military on A400M airlifter. Airbus Military refrained from making any further declaration as it had previously accused Turkey for locking whole process and called Turkish behaviour “unbearable”.

Last negotiations took part on March 4th and some agreement is reached at the meeting but according to Turkish source Airbus Military’s precondition is erasing the penalty to put the agreement in practice.

Critical pieces must be delivered at once

Turkey claims that it ordered four thousand parts and pieces as spare part or equipment to keek aircraft running. Sixty percent of it is delivered and not all critical parts. An agreement is reached recently so that Airbus Military will provide the critical part within five days in case of need occurs.

One major, 100 minor mismatch

The design and agreement conditions do not fully meet practice according to Turkish side. They have found 1 major and 100 minor mismatch. The major issue is about Propeller Gear Box Cover. It is claimed that the 0.25 micron gap is allowed between the gear box and cover. Two of covers are 0.80 and 0.90. Turkish side claims that this may cause oil leak. According to Turkish claims Airbus Military accepted change of cover but asked erasing penalty debt. Turkish authorities narrated Airbus Military’s position as the company to believe the penalty unjust as it did pay five million Euro in the past.

Pilot’s training is not complete

Turkey claims that pilots have received training on a simulator but it lacked some configuration. Pilots did not actually fly on real plane or lack training. Turkey asks for eight pilots to be trained.

Previous penalty is different from delay penalty

Airbus military asked for revision on conditions and called all countries to meeting. According to the new agreement Turkey will receive first aircraft in Initial Operation Configuration (IOC) and will be converted to Standard Operation Configuration (SOC) later. Turkey had to receive that plane on SOC at first agreement. Turkey considered this gap as a lack of capacity for two years and asked five million Euro from the Company. According to Turkish authorities this penalty is different from delay penalty as this is the penalty for flying aircraft in IOC in state of SOC. Turkish authorities state that the bill increases every day the delivery of aircraft is delayed.

I'm glad that our guys know what they want and has their standards set high

Aselsan Airborne radar for TF-X is officially in conceptual design phase.
Trials of Mobile search and Fire Control radar for SAM programs have almost completed. Variants of related radars on Naval warhips are under development.

Aselsan offers domestic solutions to Tubitak SAVTAG for own EHPOD and Launchable Target jamming systems. Conceptual design of Electronic Warfare systems for TF-X is being carried out under the collaboration with TAI.

2 New FLIRs from ASELSAN...

1 for HALE class UAVs which is ASELFLIR-335 and other one is for Mini UAVs...

Aselsan yeni keşif ve gözetleme sistemleri geliştiriyor
Important note : Accordoing to news new flir is 60 KG while old one(Aselfir 300T) was 95 KG.

CATS sistemi 60 kg civarında ağırlığa sahip, üzerinde Renkli Tv Kamera, IR Kamera, LRF/LD,LP, Spotter gibi sistemler yer alacak. CATS termal görüntüleme sistemi başta ANKA İHA olmak üzere diğer hava araçlarında da kullanılacak.

About CATS i will say something... If i don't remember wrong i watched an interview of Murad BAYAR... I don't remember clearly.... Maybe it was not Murad BAYAR but someone else... Let's call it Murad BAYAR... I watched words of Murad BAYAR very carefully and he counted platforms for CATS and didn't mention T-129... And also when i look at news, CATS is being mentioned with other platforms UAVs(like current ANKAs) but not with T-129... So i don't think these CATS will be mounted on T-129s...

Carrying capacity of T-129 is so powerful platform when you compare it to our UAVs... If we think about payload, yes it would be good, lighter FLIR means payload advantage... So i think there is no weight problem for T-129 and also i think there is no need of CATS for T-129... And if they want to mount CATS then i think they should make so many changes on T-129, for example there can occure weight & balance problems so this time they can need to make large scale changes... Maybe in the future this can be done but it's not now i think...

BTW sure if it's not difficult we should mount CATS on T-129, that would be great...

There was balance problem in T-129 last year because the nose of the heli was heavy compared to rest of the heli and many people were saying problem was the weight of the Aselfir 300T.For Anka's case because of weight Anka couldn't reach target altitude : target altitude was 30k feet but in the tests Anka only reached 26k.So for those reason this new flir will(must) be mounted on T-129 and Anka i hope, we are talking about 35 kg weight reduction here if nothing else they can use it to add Mildar on T-129.

Why they should remove Aselsan's SAR and use Meteksan's Mildar both of them are SAR ?

What will be the difference ?
As far as i know there is no SAR on T-129 Aselsan developing SAR for Anka UAV only and Mildar stand for MWR(Millimeter Wave Radar) while SAR stand for Synthetic Aperture Radar they are not same thing.

Sorry my bad, my mind gone to ANKA.... The were gonna integrate Mildar in a weapon pod to T-129.... not covering 360 degree of sight... I think they should find a way to have 360 degree of awareness.

I know thats why i am saying they should integrate new flir and get 35 kg weight reduction with this they should be able mount Mildar right i front of nose instead of sacrificing a weapon pod.

Nose ? Not to the top of heli. like Apache ? Where exactly you mean ?
You guys want to mount it on top because of 360 degree covarage but what your are forgetting is if you mount it on top this time below of the heli won't be covered isn't this gonna be a problem when heli cruising in high altitudes? I believe covering in front of the heli in both low and high altitudes more important if we go your way heli will be blind to anything goes under below. @Sinan

Edit: Now i checked Russian's heavy atack heli Mi-28 also has top mounted radar like Apache perhaps you guys are right.
