They are both small fries.. I don't think they have the ability for the serial production. Let's wait a bit more, i don't really have faith in this project.

Karsan and Isuzu are good companies, they are capable. Others i don't know very well, i doubt they have serial production abilities.
More on the subject. $100 million dollars is not enough. If i had been in the government:

1-) ÖTV tax cut around %50 for indigenous cars. ( for promoting consumers with a cheaper price to buy)
2-) I would have given a guarantee to producer that state would buy a pre-defined amount cars annually tomake them use in police, jandarma, ministries etc...
3-) Begin to build electrical recharge stations and and promote private companies for building additional stations.

The negative side of electrical vehicles are their short range and long recharge times. But it would greatly impact for Turkey as we don't have any oil reserves.

I'm saying this still, i don't have great expections for this project, the taken steps, bidders doesn't sound serious.

I mean, why can't we see Koç or Sabancı in the list.

The one with most experience is with no doubt otokar from koç.
However they wouldn't because it will sabotage their other manufactured cars (fiat etc. ).

It is difficult to produce a passenger car and i dont see in the future a Turkish car. What they did en stil doing is licence production. I dont think its necessary and dont see the logic. Dogans are using architecture of fiat what is pitty.

Instead of waiting the for recharge there has to be option for switching car battery with a full one , think about it in every gas station there is a lift and a guy to switch car battery. If car manufacturer make it easy enough it can be done under 5 min.

Genious. :yahoo:

They would just replace the battery and put in to charge the depleted one. And it's not like changing the whole engine, just the battery. Great idea my friend. :)

Current government won't give any new projects to Koç for the obvious reasons. They even took the Milgem project for them. :tsk:

But you need to know while battery of those electric cars are not heavy as engine they are still heavier than tranmission box so a human can not lift it without a help like this.

Also there has to be robotic version of this thing for a quick switch manual ones like above would take too long.

Koç didn't want to produce any national car way before all the crab hit the fan. on top of that they declared anyone trying to produce a national car suicidal.
Well, I can understand koç. They have a very lucrative business with manufacturing licensed cars, sabotaging that business themselves would be idiotic

@revojam

Accu packs are very very expensive and take a lot of space. However I have seen a hybrid model which had a engine of 300 cc purely for the purpose of a alternator for the engine. I'll try to find the concept m

Guys check out Tesla cars they are 100% electric and they are actually succesful. Tesla Motors | Premium Electric Vehicles I actually got in one and they are really nice.

It doesn't matter if ithe new car is a hybrid because most of our energy isn't renewable and alot of it comes from the outside so it will not reduce our dependency on foreigners that much in the short term. We should concentrate on something that runs with boron. But it is still good to look into hybrid when we have nuclear plants etc. Maybe the gas stations can be like solar plans or something where they charge the batteries like @revojam said.
