We can bring camera to film every single detail inside to know what exactly the cause, and don't let that ever happen again, help india will help China too, we also have several Kilo class subs.

And India can't do this on it's own because..............?

Maybe this will light a fire under the MoD's backside to get moving on the P-75I project??

Torpedoes are unarmed whilst at dock. I think we need to wait for the CoI to know exactly what happened.

Well, many Russian torpedoes use hydrogen peroxide as oxidizer for its fuel system. If it leaks, it will react with the metal casing of the torpedo to produce hydrogen and steam, which will rupture the fuel tanks and cause a fire and explosion, which will then cook off the warhead in the torpedo. This is exactly what happened with the Russian submarine Kursk.

@wanglaokan,

India won't allow you in... not gonna happen. India won't allow its enemy in its security zone.

You can't be serious, there is 18 lives inside. we can deploy this to help.

I pray that they will be fine...

The INS Sindhurakshak is relatively new... surprised to hear this

Well , my condolences , since a submarine is the worst place to be trapped in . If only were the sailors out of time , they would have been saved , but not certainly now :(

Yeah , commissioned in 1997 , just saw on Wikipedia .

Oh come on, try to be real. 18 lives are nothing for national security. Thats a high security zone.

But it is in port not sittin at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. The IN would turn to the USN before it went to the PLAN for such help anyway.

I think US and Russian experts are already there.

Source bro?

I can inderstand the Russkies being on-site as they are probably overseeing the upgrade project's progress. But Americans being in a highly sensitive Indian navy dockyard? I don't know.

MUMBAI: At least 18 Navy personnel are missing after a huge explosion followed by a fire rocked Indian Navy submarineINS Sindhurakshak docked at the high security naval dockyard early on Wednesday.

"There are some people who are trapped on board, we are in the process of trying to rescue them, we suspect it to be in the range of 18," said navy spokesman PVS Satish.

"We will not give up until we get to them," Satish said.

Among the missing are three officers, according to Navy sources.

According reports, the submarine has been damaged extensively in the fire and is submerged half under fire, which was brought under control with the help of 16 fire tenders at around 3am.

The Navy has ordered a board of inquiry into the dockyard fire.

Many sailors on board the submarine reportedly jumped off to safety.

Some injured sailors were taken to naval hospital INHS Ashvini in Colaba.

The cause of the explosion and blaze is still not known.

At least 16 fire tenders of Mumbai Fire Brigade and Mumbai Port Trust were rushed to assist the naval fire brigade to douse the conflagration, the smoke emanating from which could be seen in many parts of south Mumbai.

The blast was first heard ashore by deputy chief fire office PS Rahandale who was on leave and attending a private engagement near the Gateway of India promenade. He immediately alerted the fire brigade and other emergency services.

deap sea explorer?

can it be shipped within 24 hours?

USN can have such rescue subs on station anywhere in the world in ~12 hours AFAIK and the IN has signed a pact to be part of this umbrella.

Stop making stuff up. There is absolutely no way for the Russian AND American submarine rescue experts to arrive within five HOURS of the accident. Just no way. STOP.MAKING.STUFF.UP.
