Well i dont know why you found it so surprising. Its still not confirmed you might find another article coming out saying Russia has agreed.

I am also trying to find out some other source but there is no such news on media except this source according to my information.

Man this news has made me depressed

I was so happy that Pakistan will have its own air planes but this has put a crank in the whole thing

Every set back is an oppertunity.:flag:

first of all this source is hardly reliable we need to wait for a more credible source, until then nothings for sure.

even if russia doesn't allow pakistan to use the rd-93 on its JF- 17's there is also another engine that china is making and is now complete or nearing completion which is called the WS-13 which is being made for the JF-17. thats why neither pakistan or china is making a big fuss, the only country making a fuss as usual is india.

pakistan will get the JF-17's, and the engine isn't going to be a problem, be it RD-93 or WS-13.

Actually if this report turns out to be true then we should be thanking our lucky stars now that some thought and preparation for such eventuality was already in place to cater to it (WS-13). Sanctions of this nature will push the Chinese and Pakistani side to work on the indiginous solution with more urgency...this is the one big positive aspect of this scenario. In times of hostilities, Russian dilly dallying can pose problems for the JF-17 operations.

On the realistic side, the Russians can't do anything even if Chinese transfer the engines to Pakistan. Aside from some cribbing in the press, Russians may be prohibiting the transfer out of diplomatic niceties and not out of true conviction. $300 million dollar engines vs. multi-billion dollar armament and economic arrangements with China would also play a role here.

They can do a LOT mate. They can suspend military ties with China. It would hurt China MUCH more, China imports weapons only from Russia. It is sanctioned everywhere else. Apart from that, international legal law would come into effect. China can be dragged in international courts. China can/will be made to pay a HEAVY penalty. From hence on, no country would trust China, there would be a loss of credibility in the international market. China would then not be sold ToT for anything., Russia would cease to send oil etc, etc, etc.
The other countries will not then honour any legal commitment to China.

These things are very complicated. China cannot send Russian weapons to any country without prior permission. China can do nuke proliferation cuz its got its own reactors etc, so it can be done covertly and ieven if it comes out, no1 can do anything but scowl. But this is differnt.

China can use the clout it has because of its arms purchases, economy, etc, etc, etc to MAKE Russia export the weapons, but it cannot do so unilaterally.

Russians can't do diddly here against the Chinese since Chinese hold ALL of the leverage...much of the Russian armaments industry is being supported from funding that comes in from sales to China....economically, China is Russia's biggest trading partner. For a tactical reason (witholding engines which they themselves have said would come from alternate sources if they did not provide to Pakistan) is not worth it for Russians to ditch China's multi-billion dollar ventures with them. There is an Indian optimism about this situation which I can understand and then there is the reality of the situation :)

When was the last time China or Russia dragged each other to Intl courts? They still do business the old school way...there is way more on the line for the Russians than the Chinese...I think we are overblowing this issue.

Yeh, but China still SIMPLY CANNOT just send the engines to Pakistan if Russia does not allow it to. THis is a fact blain mate, accept it, for whatever reason it maybe.

Guys i feel bad from the emotional response of some members.[i'm a soft hearted person  ] "i'm said this without considering any national interest"
Frankly jf 17 aint much threat to us but if they acquires Gripen it will be.

jf 17 will be delivered.
If not by rd 93 russians are already provinding assistance to china in everything including space, engine dev isnt easy GE/LM took more than 2 decades and all new engines are modofication of earliest ones,

GE lost raptor engine contact as it was a new engine and its not finished after 12 years of work.

So Russia will definitely assist (infact jf 17 is a project with mig as a consultant) china in engines.

and personally i feel india - pakistan shud resolve differences.ofcourse Pakistan shud make LOC as IB first

malay > thats correct infact the contract was to ask russia about if exported to 3rd countries.

and oh pakistan should stop suporting let :P to have good relationship.

Ofcourse the JF-17 would be delivered with or without the RD 33 engines. The question was that denying this engine would delay it a lot.I agree that JF 17 does not pose a major threat but then again, i would never let my enemy get armed with even a sword.

Now, enemy not necessarily Pakistan ofcourse, it was a manner of speech.
I doubt if there can ever be peace b/w India and Pakistan mate. Stop even dreaming it, though What i have seen is that majority of the population are very cool towards each other.

Pakistan just cannot catch a break

I feel so sad and depressed. I was so happy that we will have 150 JF-17's in our Air Force but now with this news that is no longer a reality.
