Google will not return to China because it is spying on its people

Please...Google may cooperate with the government on what people search, but Google is far from what Baidu does, which is literally obeying any order from the government on what people will receive from their search.

They are both two separate things and comparing apples and oranges. Google's cooperation was more a cheat, considering the sort of rep it has established. Not to mention the fact all the covering they are doing is purely like "Oh we got some mechanisms in place to not let privacy of US citizens be compromised"... What about the rest of the world?

These leaks have destroyed any trust in the "Move to the cloud" paradigm shift.

Google has started censoring as well about links of copyright violation under US digital millennium copright act... Google is a search engine, if xyz thing exists on the web, it should not remove a search engine link to it. If the US DMCA has to be applied, raise it the websites/companies hosting the content, instead they US government is passing DMCA edicts onto Google.

Comparing apples and oranges and you tried to compare copyright violations with politically motivated censorship by the government?

Just in case you did not know: Copyright and patents are APOLITICAL.

if someone lost all groundings to defend a criminal, he always bring others in, and helping nothing.

Let us focus on Google, this evil b$@%#@^&ch.

Whatever ..

Its a huge nuisance when in China trying to access your mails etc.

And you know this how?

Hundreds of millions were pretty clueless back in 09 when it was revealed Facebook was passing information off to the US government.

When it comes to spy on its own people, I see no difference between Obama and Chinese communist government. Actually, Obama wanted to join the Chinese communist party when Hu came to visit in 09, but he was rejected for being too liberal.

How you know that?

Who said that before the Snowden scandal?

‘No One Is Listening To Your Phone Calls’

You're the largest hackers in the world, encroaching on the nets in our territory and accusing us of internet infringement on you - typical case of thieves crying theft!

The case also involves UK and may be extending to other nations like France, Germany etc

But american and the cohort policy makers are all singing the Macdonna tune

I think Xi will welcome Obama's application instantly if he is exonerated from his presidency of usa because of the scandal. That was probably what Xi promised him during the California visit

Well the concept is the same, people still have objections to censorship of Google enforced by the state of US selectively.

Once again he said this does not apply to non-US citizens and people not living in the US.

Also he said they are making sure abuse is not happening after the fact.

That means if you had access to it, and didn't want to go through the court, you could still open it. Someone should ask the statistics of the audit process. How many times was the process broken?

you appeared not to get updated with Snowden's whistleblowing statements

Germany, Pakistan etc and may be HK also are asking the us government to clarify if the us surveillance is affecting, tracking , intruding into the privacy of their (German, Pakistani ..) people's communications beyond the us borders

This is exactly in contradiction to Obama's claims

now you want to defend Google by comparing which one is less evil? come on, I thought their motto is "don't be evil", not "it is ok as long as I am less evil".

Baidu's doing evil but admitting it is already bad, but it is way worse for Google to do evil and pretend not doing it, and way worse to accuse others of doing it on a higher moral ground. Even Yahoo once fought against NSA (they lost the lawsuit and was forced to join the PRISM), so google, the one which actively and forwardly joined the program, is the worst on this moral battlefield.

See the highlighted? That is how people live.

If you have two seats and one of them is less harsh than the other, which one would you sit?

If you have two shacks and one roof have less holes than the other, which one would you take shelter under?

It does not matter what Google pretends to be, if people know that Google is less evil than Baidu, they will move to Google. What is the Chinese government afraid of? Why not let both compete without government intrusion? Baidu is free to operate as it wills. So will Google. The truth here is that if Baidu willingly obeys the Chinese government but Google does not, the Chinese people will abandon Baidu and it does not matter what Google say about itself.

So you go right on believing that Google is the worse evil when the truth is that the Chinese government knows that if given the freedom, Google would put Baidu out of business right in China.
