The Pakistani prosecutor handling the 26/11 Mumbai attack case and the Benazir Bhutto assassination case has reportedly been shot dead in Islamabad.

According to reports, Zulfiqar, prosecutor of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), was shot dead by some unidentified armed men when he was on a morning walk.

He was handling Bhutto murder case too......

Don't worry, as always pakistani police will get to the bottom of this and find out who and why they did this. If the attack was planned in pakistan, india should proactively offer any help in the form of court admissible bullet-proof evidence they might need.

He was shot 13 times...

RIP.

Now before anybody pins this on ISI, this lawyer and 3 CID officers were receiving threats by some people who were being prosecuted by them, CID people were witnesses in the case.

This could also be Taliban killing him for pursuing the BB case.

this is not taliban style, its agency style killing, however, I dont think ISI did it, it maybe by those who want people to think ISI did it......

P.s.

Rest in Peace. Ch Zulfiqar got killed in the line of duty. may Allah be pleased with him and grant him janat ul firdos.

Yeah well Taliban do one shot only.

Saw on GEO that he had proof against Taliban involvement and another case in which CID officials were the witnesses. They had received threats and were warned not to testify and the lawyer was told not to pursue the case.

The people in the case are named as Husnain and Rafaqat and CID officers testified against these 2. So probably it was these guys or their group which was sending threats to the lawyer and CID.

ISI is not remotely linked to this case...nor is any other agency.

Right after Kiyani expressed displeasure over legal hounding of musharraf too.

Not many pakistani comments, infact none that do not offer a character certificate to ISI. Obviously Pakistanis know how to build a working governance system and whats sacrosanct in it.

No damage done, the entire Pakistani establishment military/non military intents to only pursue this as face saver with no intention to get to the bottom of it, what can we really lose? I do not think he was shot dead for this case, it is not required to do so, when something can be easily achieved why kill a lawyer. It has to do with something else.

It cannot be 26/11 that is for sure, there is no reason to do so.

Look at the timing. Probably done by some PPP loyalists to add pressure on former Army Chief

Same people who probably profited most from "mohtarmaa" death.

He should've had more security though, one Corolla and a guard with a pistol was not enough

Taliban or Zardari?

We see eye to eye on this issue ;)

Cool story. Yes I'm sure indian input would be most instrumental as it always is.

Anyyyywayzz.

Right. The whole world has learned from bharat about sacrosanctity of governance systems.

Quite the enthusiast today, you're on a role I think you might be onto something

Actually India is an underdeveloped young nation-state. So NO world does not learn from India, and noone is asking you to learn from India too. But if a comparison is somehow important to you, then yes, the stability of our governance system is there for all to see. Thanks and congratulations on the first democratic government in 65 years to have completed their term BTW.

You want an intelligence agency to have a character certificate? are you serious?
The role of an intelligence agency.. the very molded definition is to be subversive, dirty and so and so forth.. or are you implying that the CIA was within ethical grounds in the bay of pigs or RAW was angelic in Sri Lanka?

In this case however, Id look into political forces more than the establishment.

Kayani's displeasure with the Mush case HAD NOTHING to do with this one.. that has to do with his own links to Musharraf and saving his(and his cabal). If you are going to join the dots to make the picture, try avoiding joining up the nose to the ear and calling it a face.

Taliban or Zardari?

The latter makes more sense.

RIP.

I hope the culprits are caught and given the punishment they deserve.
