US SEAL team was to surrender if surrounded by Pak troops

DAWN spun the headlines

The news is more about Obama saying that the SEALs wont surrender and the americans would rain hell on Pakistani military if they interfered.. Probably the same was conveyed to Pakistan as well.. That's why for hours while this operation was on, there was no response from PA or PAF

any non spun headline from the genuine source?

They knew best bet is to surrender... as Pakistani soldiers are truly professionals not like those beating women in Kashmir and overrunning kids with tanks in Palestine.

:hitwall: do you think your soldiers were very professionals by beheading Indian soldiers at LOC?? ask your soldiers how to surrender to foreign troops in case wars. they will certainly remember few things that was happened for them..

Apparently they over estimated our Military's capabilities-
We are professional on paper- We Suck-

Have anyone of you bothered reading the 3 three books published on this story, one by seal team member and another by washington post editor, even the movie zero dark thirty gave us clear clues.
As per the books, 2 of them, the seal team was to fight their way back out of it, they even had rangers QRF on stand by. But if things heat up, and there is a threat of severe losses to both sides then seal team was to surrender. They had the people VP and Patreaus on stand by to talk to PA COAS. But obama was of view that they fight their way out thats why alot of time was spent on training. However it was state department who said you can't just go to war with your ally like that hence diplomatic options were considered........
It doesn't have to do with solider's rifle , do or die, because soliders just follow orders.....they were ordered to kill, then they would have brought hell, and losses on both sides.
Its not about professionalism, who is more tough and PA army vs 32 SEALS, because killing someone who is restricted to a 4 x 4 wall, escaping is not a chance. However as i said PA on the other hand would also have suffered losses.
Why are we even forgetting g Raymond Davis here, even he managed to escape without a harm.....as per the books and movie, US was concerned about serious response by the army and airforce......

  please wakeup no beheading was ever done!!! grow up!!!!! stop watching zee news!

Sorry to say but PA PAF and goverment knew about it they were part of it. 2 PAF jets were called back by Zardari orders tells every thing. Kiyani also knew about it.

But on other hand i dont belive Osama was killed there every thing was staged. It was all election topi drama and USA had to show that Osama is killed before they left Afghanistan. Its ok to make movie on eposide but cant release 1 single picture of osama ??

This report is bull. The USG had Apaches Chinooks and F18s near by waiting for the go ahead to engage Pakistani forces. I'm upset at Dawn for BS'ing a headline and have lost respect for them.

The Seals did have the ability to fight their way out and they did not number in 6-8 guys but 15-18 guys. There were two helis and they had a Chinook land near by as QRF full of 30 Rangers. Thank God the military stood down due to the late night phone call otherwise..

Oh bhai, they were never gonna make there way out alive as i said earlier both sides would have suffered losses but no way in hell they were making out alive. They were asked to surrender if ordered, but priority by obama was to fight back, however it was state deparment which suggested the diplomatic channel.if they had chinooks on stand by, that my dear those were in afghanistan , before they could finish the op , f-16 were already in the air ready to intercept, but then diplomatic channels were used to call coas, so stop pulling your bullcrap without the facts
I would love to know where were those f 18s parked as you claimed, somewhere on shamsi base? .....crap

SEAL are among top 5 commandos in world, A normal army can't compete with them.

So ? Do you know how many Pakistani soldiers were there at the nearest base ? :azn: Or is there a Bollywood movie in the making again :D Being a commando doesn't grant you super-powers , grow up ! Why they didn't engage or radar operator didn't know is another matter for discussion ...

On Topic " That would have been the wisest course of action if they were surrounded "

Seals have built a reputation of not surrendering/being taken alive, I doubt very much that any surrender plan would have received anything more than passing consideration.

Give it a rest to US can do everything ! We always heard how the Govt of the United States doesn't negotiate with terrorists and now they are asking Taliban to participate in the Afghan peace process ... Too many myths being broken in this war , huh ? ... Doesn't work like that ...

The US has PAF f16's under surviellance, and would know if any were scrambled. They were armed to fight their way out. The F-18's were on standby in case of any PAF action. The F16's were scrambled much later after the team had already left.

Waging a war with an ally would have worth it then , you mean ? :azn: Just to remind you , US-Pak relations weren't like today at that time ... Hence the proposal to surrender ...

You mind telling us source of your information or statement where such claims were made, were you the part of operation? No i don't think so, whatever you know, and we all know is what is available to public domain. I have something to back up what i wrote ,do you?, no F - 18s were on stand by.
Show me in my two posts where i have said that Seals were not fighting their way out. As i have said twice and saying again, they were told by obama to fight their way out, actually he wanted them to be, but his advisors told him to hold his horses.
Americans knew about f-16 being scrambled, as written by a st6 member himself and a washington post editor, calls were made to pakistan army to calm things down.
No way seals were making out alive, both sides would have suffered loses but in the end they Would have to surrender, because they were told so.
There is a difference between going to war in iran/iraq during a covert op and an ally. Get your facts straight

Lets be serious, US and Pakistan aint no allies in the original sense of the term. Japan, Korea, UK, Germany are all allies and none are bombed on a daily basis. All have access to US markets and benefit economically by selling their goods to the worlds largest economy.

Pakistan has no benefit from diplomatic ties with the US.
