What's new

Iranian Police in Bajaj Pulsars !

@hinduguy and @MST That I know. I have Pulsar 180 and Bullet.

I am telling you the difference.

As for @danger007 , bullet is made to ride alone. No chick pick. Ask mastaan what bullet means.

@mastaan Exactly. I hate these electric start one. Do you know if you would had gone to Enfield club on Orkut back in the days, and told that you had new electric start one, they will bash your left, right and center.

Old bullet have that distinct sound which is muffled in new ones. The gear on other side makes it more great. :D

My neighbor back in home town also owns one and have asked my dad to sell it to him. Many people have said that if he ever wish to sell it, let them know. But my dad won't. That guy used to say to me, why the hell you have Pulsar, ride this. But Bullet drinks hell lot of fuel. But totally worth it.

He bought it in 1982-84, I can't remember now. He just loved to ride it fast. Its his prized possession.

Once when I was new for this bike, I went along with my friend and it stopped. So he pushed it and then only it started. I told my dad, he said, Why did you start it by pushing. I have never done that. :D

my dad got one Bullet since 1960 around.... and my friend using one right now...... I am talking about pulsar 220cc...

Didn't like 220. I bought Pulsar 180 just because of black color all over. :D

Many of my friends have bought Enfield. The neighbor I am talking about, he go on long tour and along with few foreign riders who visit him. And no pillion ride. Full gear for protection. No Herogiri. :D

TVS+APACHE+RTR+250.JPG

uper waali yah neche wali?

aray apache!! tu kahan thi tera he to intezaar tha, aja aja!!

I second that... apache build quality (or any tvs bike) is way better than pulsar. Pulsar does starts rusting within a year.. its only looks..and advt..

Enfield is different man, its not for racing, its a cruiser.

Dost, may be I am ancient and thus not keeping speed with the times and the variant classifications. So, do pardon my lack of updated knowledge.

But here is what I learnt from my dad and uncles --> Bullet is bullet and baki sab plastic cycle hei!!!

So, no disrespect to these 180CC and 250cc babies. But, I rode a 500CC bike back in 90's and since then I have lost appetite for these curvaceous small things you call race bikes. May be I am wrong, but it is just how I have learnt my motorcycles!

On a serious note. 250CC is not a racing bike. Racing bikes start above 600CC, if I remember it right... This is a serious racing bike mate:

On a side note; tomorrow is a working day... I hate mondays:hitwall:

@KRAIT you'd give shame to all the owls of the world. Too unhygienic sleeping habits mate. You still in college or a work slave already?

I have owned a Pulsar for more than 5 years and only in the 5 year there were some minor problems..nothing a 8K overhaul could not rectify.

Apache is the actual bike that tried to ride into town on looks (I'll give it has solid looks). But here goes the cons as I have observed :

1) Looks like a CD-100 when guys over and about 6 ft ride it. It primarily for the 5 1/2 feet and thereabouts guys.
2) The much hyped petal disc is not that great and the rear drums are not that responsive.
3) In the new model RTR-180 there is a lot of stalling when shifting to first gear.
4) Too stiff handling when over 100kmph
5) Less mileage than Pulsar
6) Shitty rear tyres on earlier models. TVS Chakra..lolzzz. They dont hold a candle to the MRF Zapper on Pulsars.

@mastaan Yaar didn't sleep early last night on time, was sleepy even in day. Had to bring sleep on track. :cray:

Completed College, work is in research so yeah, work slave. :D

Self imposed slavery, entire day on laptop. :enjoy:

@KS Fully agree on the Pulasar bit. I have a buddy, who still drags his first generation 180CC, 7-8 years after its launch and it runs pretty well with some denting paintin

Offtopic:

To a very old question you asked me about the perception of a Madras Regiment on the border!

I thought long about it and spoke to my younger brother about it as well. Actually, I was wrong in my reply. Indian Military Regiments staffing is not based on ethnicities, but I think they are based on where they are raised and officers and soldiers are not allocated to a regiment based on their ethnicity (except a few like Naga, me thinks). Therefore, you could actually find a Manekshaw in Gurkha and a Batra in JAKRIF.

So, the perception of few Regiments are not good because they actually have very different roles and classifications than front line infantry regiments that I have seen since my childhood. And, that is arguably the reason of the bias in my head.

The reason why I am clarifying. I just remembered an awesome colonel of 8 Punjab, who had a very long south Indian Sir name and he was the scariest guy in 1999 that I saw on our border (I was a volunteer porter for our forces back then) and then reflected on what I said in one of my posts.

Moral of the story: It is not the native region that matters. The respect for the men and the chivalry that they demonstrate is not and can not be determined by the region that they come from. It is just that I have never seen some regiments on our side of the border and that sort of creates some image in my mind about them.

That just strengthens my belief that R&D guys are crazy. I remember showing up for a presentation to a CTO in a 2000€ suit and the guy was waiting on me in Jeans and sweatshirt!!!

AFAIK the commissioned officers or NCOs are usually interchanged between the regiments and are not ethnicity/region specific while the regular rank and file are pretty much organized on those basis. This is what I have heard and this could explain the likes of FM Sam or Capt.Vikram Batra.

Where did you get that definition that only 600cc and above are racing bikes. In fact racing bikes can be in different categories. Here for example are three categories of Motorcycle Grand Prix

Grand Prix motorcycle racing refers to the premier category of motorcycle road racing. It is divided into three distinct classes:

Moto3 — Introduced in 2012, motorcycles in this class are 250 cc with four-stroke engines. Previously it featured 125 cc two-stroke motorcycles. This class is also restricted by rider age, with an upper limit of 25 for newly signed riders and wild card entries and an absolute upper limit of 28 for all riders.
Moto2 — Introduced by Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of the competition, in 2010 as a 600 cc four-stroke class. Prior to that season, the intermediate class was 250 cc with two-stroke engines. Moto2 races in the 2010 season allowed both engine types; from 2011 on, only the four-stroke Moto2 machines were allowed.
MotoGP — 1000 cc four-stroke.

Grand prix motorcycles are prototype machines not based on any production motorcycle.

I had an Apache 160 for 3 years which I sold off 3 years ago before I moved out of India. I bought it for less than 60K and sold it off for 40K after 3 years. Tell me if a Pulsar can fetch that kind of resale value (I seriously don't know thats why I am asking).

There are indeed issues with Apache including the ones that you have pointed but the most annoying is the engine vibration it creates between 4000 and 5000 RPM. Thats a real pain. But then nothing can beat the throttle response and the stability of the machine. When the signal turns green and you throttle it nothing comes close. Yeah may if you are unlucky you may find a Yamaha Rx 100 infront of you. That **** can't be beaten in the first 10 seconds. The build quality of Apache if great much better than Pulsar. If i go back to India I may buy it again may be 250 cc this time.

BTW I never measured the mileage of my Bike in 3 years I had it. I mean if I had to measure mileage I would have bought a CD 100.

I own a NS :D Its awesome. Most bikes on the roads cant hold a candle to my bike. It will eat the Apache for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

But the build quality of Bajaj is yuck. Their SVCs are yuck :hitwall: The bike vibrates at low RPMs, tickles my crotch (its annoying)

I wish they gave the contract of manufacturing and servicing the NS to TVS..... that would be awesome :cheesy:

BTW, I wish to read a review of Pulsar by a foreigner. Where can I find such a thing guys?

The resale value of Pulsar is among the best..My friend bought a 2002 model Pulsar in 2009 for 21K and he was still able to resell that after 2 years at 17 K after abusing it. Even the initial price was a bit less because he was going to be the third hand and the bike had met with two or three accidents and that was according to the seller :cheesy:

And one more thing I forgot to tell about the Apache is the handle vibration...its like a vibrator and you hands start paining after some time if not wearing riding gloves..in Pulsar is real smooth and you dont feel that.

Regarding the build quality..I honestly dont feel any difference between Pulsar and Apache..both look solid to me..I would like to know what is the build quality issues regarding pulsars ?
