Indian market has been occupied by China and Taiwan company already:lol:

loll the chinus who r jumping, indian power minister has already said that starting nxt year all the solar power products will be manufactured in india. foreign companies have to set up plants here. india has already developed thin film tech so companies are ready to go ahead.

^ we have the biggest solar powerplant....plus china is not as sunny as India....

sorry your gov is a joke, sorry but very true :kiss3:

No idea why Chinese bring their country into a discussion about India and then say we are insecure............
excuse me, but it you guys who are desperately trying too soothe your insecurities not us..........we are happy with our companies, so why does it bother you so much???
And anyways Solar is just an auxillary source foe energy the main sources are hydroelectric, thermal and Nuclear( both thorium and uranium)
All of these are viable for the forseeable future since we have 80 years of coal reserves, Second largest thorium reserves and plenty of rivers....also we have enough uranium to satisfy our domestic needs for the next 40 years.......
Solar is just a secondary industry for us, whereas because of the huge demand , it is neccesary for China........especcialy since it's oil reserves are projected to last only 9 years more if used at current level.......

this is the right way to go, india has occupied all the major technologies in last 2 yrs and companies have set up their manufacturing plant and a new special economic zone is coming up for solar panel manufacturing. now its time to convert it to 100% in house.

Govt to encourage solar energy, says Farooq Abdullah Infrawindow News Bureau|New Delhi|Mar. 01, 2012, 09:38 AM

Minister for new and renewable energy, Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that India will restrict imports to encourage local manufacturers of solar power equipment and help domestic industry grow in the competitive environment, reports Economic Times.
The proposed agenda would be reflected in the second phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), the minister said. “Phase II of the mission would be 'Indianised' and we will put in all efforts to save the domestic industry. The government will limit imports and encourage domestic manufacturing to boost solar energy generation. We want our domestic solar industry to grow and survive in the competition," he added.
The minister's comments will cheer domestic players who have been asking the government to curb foreign involvement in the solar mission as it is hitting their market.
According to him, if foreign companies want to enter India for solar power generation, they must set up manufacturing facilities along with research and development centres. Supporting his idea, Vivek Chaturvedi, vice-president, marketing, Moser Baer (solar division), said, "We have always been open to level-playing competition. If the foreign companies set up their unit in India and then compete with the domestic manufacturers, it will work in the betterment of the solar energy sector only."
"India's manufacturing sector doesn't lack anywhere. Our level of subsidies is lower than other countries and this creates disparity. High subsidies enjoyed by the foreign players converts into low prices here, making it difficult for the domestic ones to match up to them," added Chaturvedi.

Actually credit has to be given to Chinese for making the Solar PV Panels affordable. Initially the Cost of Solar Panels used to be in the range of Rs.150/- per Watt thanks to the huge Quantities manufactured by China, the global prices has fallen as low as Rs.40/- per Watt. Mind you these Panels are comparable in terms of Efficiency to the Germans. However Chinese nor Indian Companies can match the Reliability of the MPPT & Power Conversion Units offered by Germans or Americans. Apart from it, Indian Solar Companies are more strong on the Solar Water Heater domain.
The Indian Govt just needs to provide good manufacturing policies that encourages mass manufacturing of not only Solar but the entire Manufacturing sector. There is nothing wrong if we even follow the Chinese path.

initially a lot of the solar panels were supplied to India by Canadian & US firms, but afterwards for 2-3years Chinese companies gained a huge market share. At present though the supply by Chinese companies has increased but their market share is not what it used to be, a lot of domestic supply. Germans too have seen a rapid increase in solar panel trade with India.

Cheers to all, all are welcome to invest and be part of Indian growth!
