US lets down the Indian quislings

If Indians think their "diplomacy" with the US will make a difference when it comes to India's dealings with Iran, they are wrong.

If US thinks they can make India forego its oil import from Iran, then it is mistaken.

We have already started paying Iran in rupees and utilizing Chabahar.

What a dumb article! Has India buckled down on Iran or on the italian commandos caught and undergoing trial in India?, Has India buckled down to purchase the F16/ F18 offered and recommended by he US President himself?. Has India changed its decision to change it to EF from Rafale even when the UK PM requested? Pakistani statements are for their public consumption are not followed by them and will buckle down in the future it will be same with the IP pipeline and the Pakistani's themselves know that.

Good for India. I agree every country in the neighborhood should improve & increase the regional alliance. However, India will have to face whatever consequences it might get from the US for having this relationship with Iran, & diplomacy won't change that.

Ofcourse diplomacy is all about who offers more and by which step the national interests are better furthered.

Iran first offered IPI - a good deal..then US counter-offered the nuclear deal - a better offer..so we ditched the IP(I) and went with the nuke deal. So if day after tomorrow US offers a better deal than Iran then logic says go with that.

Anyway in this case I doubt if the US could offer us anything better. We need Iran for Afghanistan and central asia.

I think the sheer size of India and the fact that China isn't backing down on Iran either mean that the US really has little choice and will have to continue to deal with India in a friendly way. The US doesn't really have much leverage over India.

When it comes to Israel/Iran, the US is ready to do anything. Even with the US economy in dire straights, it is escalating its military interventionism throughout the world, especially in the Middle East. While there might be friendly dealings for public consumption, the behind-the-scenes situation will be very different.

I disagree with the article. India is playing it smart.

Iran is not an American problem; the West is badgering Iran purely on Israeli orders. It is not a coincidence that American pressure on Iran has escalated in an election year.

America's obsession is with China, and India knows that the US has a central role for India in that game plan. Whether India plays that role or not is to be seen, and certainly India is milking the US on that very hope, but the US is not going to abandon India anytime soon.

India has taken the right decision by cutting down Iran oil imports.
US and Israel are our closest and most valuable allies.
US has offered us if we abide by sanctions on Iran we will get membership of NSG without even sighing the NPT agreement.

i see......india should ask for more soft loans and try selling arjun tank to america.

stop trolling mate.

the OP should understand the difference between a well written article and one which is posted on blogs , from where he has taken this gem.:)

which part of the article are you taking exception to -in terms of substance (forget word choice)

by the way -- a lot of heat is going on Turkiye too...Turkiye hasn't buckled either, we should emulate their assertive foreign policy

Which part of the article? By jove!!! the entire article is a pile of crap and nothing else. India is not and has not yet buckled down to the EU/US pressure. I don't know where the author gets his information from but facts on ground do not support his statement. India continues to import oil from Iran. Road blocks have been put in place by the US treasury department and European insurers are tightening the screws on the tankers ferrying Iranian oil, but the GOI has gone to the extent of considering to grant of sovereign guarantees to companies which own the tankers ferrying Iranian oil to India.

You have to understand that there is a lot of support for Iran in India. Our PM is not a dictator or a king that he can take India's foreign policy in any direction he wants under pressure from the US and that too against our national interest and against popular sentiment. I doubt the present govt can survive another no confidence motion in the Parliament. The US is aware of this.

Regarding the Indo-US Nuclear deal, you should be aware that it is a non starter. No US company has even a toe hold in our nuclear power sector, the reasons are available in public domain. We want them to come in but their profit margins and liability considerations are coming in the way. The Russians and the French have been awarded contracts and are currently involved in setting up nuclear power plants.

Yes, this is the status as on today. Things may change tomorrow. The US/EU pressure is awesome. I just hope we can withstand it long enough to see this through.

I disagree with that bold parts. Have u forgot US previous activities against India???? including they provided most sophisticated weapons to our arch rival Pakistan and we suffered a lot in previous decades. They initiated proxy war in India soil then hw com u saying US is our closet allies???.

According to India , US is our gud business partner that's it.
