There's an interesting story about Falkland Islands. During the Argentine invasion of F I in 1982, the British were stuck as to how to try and drive the Argentines' back and they planned to carry out a surprise attack, by which the British Paratroopers shall attack and capture the defensive position held by the invaders. But accidently the BBC news broadcasted the plan of attack on T.V. and the Argentine Army saw it. But thinking that the enemy was trying to deceive them, they never really expected the attack. However, the British instead of changing the plan, stuck to it and carried it as devised.

This was like a double surprise for the Argentine Army and led to the overwhelming win of the British.

On topic:
The British are in charge of the F I's foreign and defence related matters since 1833.So, I don't see the British surrendering.

a lot of people here understate the British . they are very resilient and determined people, who have historically always fought the odds . so i guess time will tell.

In 1982 it was a different enviroment and situation. Maggie Thatcher saw this as an ideal oppotunity to diversify attention and rally round the troops to claim back the islands - this time the situation is completely different. There has been vast cuts made in the defense budget and furthermore with the fu*k up of the WMD scandal and invading Iraq the British public would not appreciate financing another war over a few piece of rocks that in all honesty dont belong to the British anyway.
The only significance these islands have is the potential raw materials that may be around the corner. I am sure Argentina and the British will come to some arrangement and the rocks will eventually be handed back to the rightful owners

Even the brits know that they are illegal occupiers, now, that shows of what stuff these brits are made of!

Bro - i live here and when the topic comes up - the Brits are almost embarrassed to bring the subject up. It is so blatantly obvious whose land it is and eventually whose it will become. Last time they got a bloody nose - this time they will have the resources hence will come to the negotiation table. The drums are already beating regarding this subject!

Thanks for finding an Asian Master to cure your colonial hangover.:china:

You can not compare China - Pakistan relations with Britain - India relations. One of them is between two independent states while the other one was colonialization. After what happened in India it is really interesting that some Indians still admire Britain, reminds me of some kind of "Stockholm Sendrome"

Now would you rather have us hating them? We tend to be little more objective about our relationships with other countries. We are not subservient to any country like Pakistan was to America in all previous decades and inching towards the same with regard to China. Anyways, look Japan got nuked by America but would you consider Japan to be a friend of America or not? Is Japan a developed country? There's another country whose entire foreign policy is based on hating India. Look where its got them.

Falklands war part 2 will be great to watch if it happens.
