Why do you feel so?

Is he so important that his death will create problems?

Akhbar Bugti hs been killed by the govt forces.

What will be the effect?

I dont think there will be any problems!

BLA has after all crushed! There is no head of it. When Bugti was alive there was a little chance that there will be problems in Balochistan, and if he had continued living he would have only progressed. There will be some riots throughout the week, at MAX!!

To put this in a correct way. Good end.

2 of Bugtis grandsons have also died with him. Remember his sons are already dead.

Pakistani forces have suffered many caualties too

Mark my words.......................it will change Pakistan

Musharraf may be sent on his trip to US for good soon

finally!

Now Pakistan can finally stabilize the region, and give the people there the support they need, schools roads and powerplants.

How is this bad for Pakistan? This man was doing terrorism in Balochistan and also the parts of the country with the support of foreign governments (you know whom i am talking about). The government was and still is doing a lot of investment in Balochistan so some of the claims by these rebels aren't true at all. If anything, this is indeed good news.

Akbar Bugti Killed In Commando Operation

Twenty security force members and more than two dozen tribal insurgents were killed in heavy fighting near a rebel chieftain's hideout in southwest Pakistan, officials said overnight.

Finding out what was the exact number of insurgents killed, its said to be about 30.

Gunbattles erupted near Dera Bugti town in restive Baluchistan province, close to where tribal leader Nawab Akbar Bugti is sheltering, security officials said.

"Around twenty members of the security forces and more than two dozen militants have been killed," one security official said.

Asked if Mr Bugti was among the dead, the official added: "We are not very sure."

However according to some reports it suggests that Akbar Bagti, a terrorist, has been killed along with his two grandsons.

Baluchistan has been rocked by a near two-year insurgency blamed on autonomy-seeking tribesmen who also want a greater share of the gas-rich province's natural resources.

Officials say hundreds of people have died in the unrest that erupted in late 2004, which has seen a series of attacks on gas pipelines, railway tracks and government installations.

British-educated tribal leader Mr Bugti, who is in his 80s, fled his stronghold in Dera Bugti earlier this year after a crackdown by the Pakistani military.

The clampdown was sparked by a rocket attack during a visit by President Pervez Musharraf to Baluchistan in December.

Mr Bugti gave an interview earlier this year from his hideout in the craggy mountains surrounding Dera Bugti in which he pledged to continue his resistance and accused the military of killing civilians.

Beautiful stuff...

He's nothing to Balochis, except to some of the sardars who had already pulled their weight off of him. You think Balochis decide their own affairs? Most of them are handed down their fates through these sardars.

I imagine most of the Sardars would be afraid... Very afraid right now. We need to capitalize on that. Take Bughti's wealth and distribute it to gain public support.

The message should be clear, this is not about targetting a Balochi, but targetting a tyrant.

Big win for Pakistan. An amputation for the consulates west of the border.

I dont think so. He was an important tribel leader but bugtis make up quite small percentage of population of baluchistan.

A lot depends upon how the government handles it.

Ideally it should empower the Balochis and continue the process of economimc uplift and not forget about it after the bad guy is gone.

Another thing is that if the government uses the lack of an adversary for personal gain then again all the good work would be zeroed.

PTV has already announced that the land and property of Bugti will be distributed among his serfs. This was their land to begin with but British drew few lines on a map and gave this land to these traitors.

Lahori,

Would you like to share your views on why was he good for the people of Balochistan? If he could, he would have created Balochistan a seprate nation.

Webby,

I never agreed with his political views or how he treated his people. But the fact is that he was a Pakistani like you and me. And we cannot kill our own people. We have seen this before in 1971. What did PA achieve by killing innocent civilians in Bangladesh. We have seen it again in Wazirstan were PA used force and now they are seeking a political solution.

Killing of bugti will be a dark day in the history of Pakistan. As someone said earlier, Either it will quell the uprising or everyone could be up in arms. I fear the worst has yet to come

au contrare friend, Pakistan is clearing the path for a prosperous nation.

we cannot kill our own ppl? what do you call court executions, upholding justice? you're not making sense.
