Sir this guy is a Hercules.

His name is Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt.
Has job at GEPCO, WAPDA.

His father, Ghulam Dastgir, too had remained a champion. Uncles too were weightlifters. So he got inspired.
In fact, his father started training him at a very young age.
His father himself remained a national champion from 81-98, won gold medals in South Asian Games in 81, 87, 89 and 91.

Whereas, M. Nooh has so far won
1. Youth Gold Medal, Junior Gold Medal and Seniors` Bronze Medal at 2015 Commonwealth Championships, India.
2. Bronze Medal at 2016 Commonwealth Championships
3. Silver Medal among seniors and Gold Medal among Juniors at 2017 Commonwealth Championships. He had also set a new record.
4. Bronze Medal at 2018 Commonwealth Championships
5. Gold Medal at 2018 IWF Junior World Championships
6. Silver Medal in Commonwealth Championships 2021, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
7. and now again a Gold Medal in Commonwealth Championships 2022 by setting a new record.

Recently, he has also succeeded in getting an Olympic Scholarship worth USD 650/ month to prepare for Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024. These scholarships are only awarded to elite athletes.

Butt and Sikh together,
اچھی جوڑی ہے، ان کی بنتی بھی بہت ہے۔

There is one more athlete in weight lifting called Haider Ali in 67 Kg category. Though he did not win any medal but he was impressive. Pakistan should invest in other sports too as they have talent. We are doing in TT,Soccer,Hockey,Badminton,Boxing, wrestling, weightlifting and kabadi and getting results.

Camaraderie was always there during sporting events... I play weekend cricket here at a local club (Yes, even at my advanced age of 48) and have some seriously good Pakistani friends (Of different social level.. police constable, garrage worker, doctor, senior govt officials), on whom I can rely upon and they also relly upon me in difficult times..

Common wealth games??
Tell me I'm dreaming! :o:
There was a time we used to win medals in Asian games and one or two at Olympics. ..this is a downgrade ..now people cherish this house nigher games like they had a breakthrough.
Butt de naray wajan gay!! Butt de naray wajan gay!!

Congrats, big man. Really good job with such limited facilities/help. Hope it inspires others in the group to get some more medals.
These guys deserve praise

The unfortunate truth is our country gives them next to NOTHING in terms of actual support

Cricket survives because of wide spread passion amongst the populace and a existing infrastructure and players

Everything else has nothing

Any Pakistani athlete that makes it anywhere is simply because of their own efforts

The same with that javelin thrower we have, he was given no support whatsoever

India has at least started and is now seeing results although very limited

Pakistan has done very little to nothing
