What's new

India vs New Zealand - T20 World Cup 2021.

It's not that easy for Indian Team to recover from the blow given by Pakistan. That very first blow and the way it was delivered; Indian Team seems to be scared and unable to recover.
Effects of Pakistani surgical strikes on India remain in the new Zealand game will continue to violate the mental and physical ability of the Indian team against Afghanistan. Its more than likely that Afghanistan will beat India انشاءاللہ

Given their quality and capability, only Afghanistan team can beat itself. They should not try to be Afridi.

Tired, timid India fluff their lines again to leave World Cup hopes on the line

Confused strategy and selection hampers team that is currently less than the sum of its parts

One week and three hours after their T20 World Cup started, India have hit six sixes in 40 overs, taken two wickets, and are below Namibia in the points table of Group 2 of the Super 12s. Dubai International Stadium is two-thirds empty and scores are level with 34 balls left in New Zealand's run chase but India have left three fielders out on the boundary, allowing Kane Williamson to knock an effortless single into a gap.

It is a minor detail but one which encapsulates a disastrous week for this India side, laying bare a fatigued, confused performance in which a side brimming with talent and verve has played within itself to leave them on the brink of elimination. "There's only one way to play in T20 cricket: you have to be optimistic, you have to be positive," Virat Kohli said after the game but his side have been timid, hesitant and - most pertinently - exhausted.

Many will point to the fact that India have lost both tosses in a tournament where chasing sides have dominated but that alone is an insufficient explanation.

They have constructed a batting order featuring several 'anchors', which intends to keep wickets in hand, but have made 36 for 3 and 35 for 2 in their two powerplays, then nudged their way to par and below-par scores despite knowing dew will make it harder to defend.

Can someone please just explain what this "moka, moka" thing is? I've not followed cricket for years until the last two Pakistani matches.

BCCI designed groups thinking that IND & NZ will go to semi, and PAK will be humiliated. Put all own matches in one place to further facilitate team but as they say Karma is wild b!tch.

PS: What If AFG also win against IND ?
Was thinking the same. Just look at the other group in which we have Aussies, English team, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh. If you see on paper, every team is equally capable to reach the semis. Why our group wasn't loaded with in such manner? One can argue that Afghan team can't be underestimated but they still need to learn a lot about how to finish matches against big teams. Arrangement of teams in 2 groups was made with the precise calculation to let India reach Semi Finals easily. But things turned out to be totally unexpected for them.

what this "moka, moka" thing is?
it was something that mocked Pakistan

Mauka Mauka
begins in March 1992 with a young Pakistani cricket supporter in Karachi saving up firecrackers to burst when Pakistan is about to beat India at the World Cup. He is disappointed as his team loses the match and at being unable to light the firecrackers. The video shows him grow older over the years, still saving up the firecrackers and waiting for his mauka (chance) to burst them, while his team fails to defeat India in any of the subsequent World Cups.

In all seriousness, though, looks like a case of burnout and fatigue. They've been on the road since last October non stop. Australia in Jan, then hosted England at home, then that WTC and big tour of England and then direct for the IPL and this one. Kohli even warned of it in one of his recent press conferences.

Kiwis will be touring India in around 3 weeks time for now to wrap up the year. These guys should get some good RnR and down time to recharge before the training camp for that one.

Pakistan meanwhile are looking pretty unstoppable, Eng are the best white ball side in the world. A repeat of 92 may well be in the offing.

I really want Pak to win it from here. They're playing with a lot of heart and feel like they have something to prove to the world, it'll also go a long way in reviving Pak cricket and arresting the downfall they have suffered since the early 2000s. Cricket needs 5 top teams at least, Eng, Aus, Nz, India and Pak. Hopefully the windies, RSA and Sri Lanka will also improve and get back to being the giants they once were.
