تعرّف على صاروخ ميتيور الجو جو الذي حصل عليه سلاح الجو المصري والمغير لموازين القوى في المنطقة

The recent image above shows the moment when a French Rafale aircraft launched an advanced air-to-air missile, which is considered the best in the world, a "Meteor" missile, which is classified within the so-called "Beyond Visual Range" because of its very long range, which ranges from 100 to 200 km and a no escape range of 75 to 90 km.

The Meteor is considered the best air-to-air missile with the largest no escape range in the world and an active advanced seeker.

The Rafale can carry 6 "Meteor" long-range missiles and 6 "Mica" missiles, which are divided into Mica Thermal with a range of 60 km and Mica Radar with a range of 80 km.

According to MBDA (missile designer and producer), METEOR is the next generation of Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air (or BVRAAM) missile system designed to revolutionize air combat in the 21st century.. Six nations cooperated in making it, they all share a common need to defeat today's threats as well as emerging threats in the future.

Guided by a sophisticated active radar seeker, Meteor offers all capabilities to engage a wide range of targets from fast, agile aircraft to small unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles in all weather conditions. The Meteor missile provides multi-shot capability against long-range maneuverable targets in a severe electronic countermeasures (ECM) environment with a range well over 100 km (62 mi).

The weapon is also equipped with a data transmission link. With the aim of meeting the needs of the so-called "network centric environment", Meteor can be run using third-party data, allowing the Meteor user - the pilot - to have a more flexible weapon system.

Meteor will be a very strong addition and a change in the balance of power for the Egyptian Air Force with the additional Rafale deal.

For decades, the United States has prevented the Egyptian Air Force from obtaining long-range "Amram" air-to-air missiles to preserve Israel's military-technical superiority, and now Egypt is breaking this superiority by acquiring the French Mica missiles and the Russian R-77SD, along with the best, which is the European Meteor.

The F-35 is in another league compared to the Rafale, and Eurofighter they can't be compared. Israel operates F-16s and F-15s in huge amounts that are vunerable to the Meteor.

What Egypt has sacrificed to get these missiles? There has to be something Arab nation has to give to get such concessions. After all, how will Israel allow such weapons to be transferred to an Arab nation?

Because I think nations like France, Italy and even Germany have had enough of Israel dictating what they can sell and to whom. And with the crimes they're currently committing in Ghaza, they're losing even more clout.

That's one part of the answer. The other part is Egypt just doesn't send any yahoo to negotiate these billions and billions of dollars of deals. They have special representatives of the highest arms negotiating capabilities who have world understanding of these weapons (heck a special military engineer designed the new data link sharing for Western and Russian and all the other equipment of different makes) including IFFs that that bypass the manufacturer's ones since you need the source codes for those. And these teams that negotiate these huge arms deals have already had plans all drawn up for what they want to purchase and they don't use aggressive tones or anything like that. All is done in diplomacy and basically what they probably said in a very polite way is we're willing to pay for X amount of equipment including the Rafales but we're not playing the US game of Israel's qualitative edge. We would like x amount of MICA EMs & ERs, & SCALPs & Meteors. For that we will purchase the two Mistrals, a FREMM and 4 Gowind Corvettes and then they waited for France's response.

I listed what they actually bought but they probably asked for a bit more and negotiated down to what they ended up.

They might've been told by France that no they can't sell them the Meteors and the Egyptian delegation might've said "ok, thank you for your time we'll ask our other sources. We are not going the same way our huge fleet of F-16 ended up with and that might've made them change their minds.

Egypt is buying alot of weapons but I pray they know how to protect them first. We certainly don't want them all destroyed like the 1967 war. Egypt definitely needs cutting edge technology to protect its self, they also need to invest in their own fighter jet which they can put weapons of their own choices on. Like how Pakistan does with Jf17.

French weapons are the best in the world bar usa and in most cases, just as,effective.

if Egypt gets scalp meteore and mica then this is a quantum leap in capability and certainly Israel older block f16 and even f15 will be in serious trouble ..
Israel has won air battles often 10.to 1 and more depending on who you believe..
the latest additions both typhoon and Rafale will change this kill ratio even with f35 in the wings.

Doubt that the Rafale or the Typhoon sold to Egypt will bring a plus to theEgyptian airforce, they will be be better that the fielded F16, but against the the Israelis airforce, the Israeli will keep the lethality edge..France or any western arm maker will never sell anything that may alter that balance..especially France..and if Israel didn’t voice her disapproval to the missile or to the Rafale, it mean one thing..that they are a downgraded version. That is all the Arab states are allowed to buy.

If you think that is the case, you are up for a surprise. US can squeeze Europe if it tried to arm any remotely hostile country in ME.
