Featured US blocks delivery of Turkish gunships to Pakistan

Another damn 6 month extension that will lead to nothing but a waste of time. The idiot Bajwa needs to resign asap for his own mental well being and the well being of the nation. In the last few years only the damn navy has any semblance of decency when it comes to any sort of planning procurement. Over the last decade we wasted precious time and missed out on the chance to have the latest J-10s, and now the latest Z-10 attack helis.

The chinese are good enough for producing the JF-17 with, for producing the AK tanks with. But somehow their attack helis and J-10 never seem good enough for the generals. Maybe its because Xi is cracking down on corruption and they have no hope of receiving any kickbacks.

Its already at its low, where neither the USA nor the Pak can squeeze more milk. China , Turkey and Italy will remain the suppliers cum partner in defence hardware. After BREXIT and COVID-19 UK is striving for more exports in every field as their economy is plunged , may be at this stage they can agree to supply us some defence products. Our top brass can look this as an opportunity and it seems right time to approach for high-tech defence products.
I am not too excited about UK. it's foreign policy is shaped in line with USA and it also has more favorable inclination towards India. it cancelled its 5G contract with Huawei due to intense US pressure.

Either we or the Turkey has to find ways to domestically (or jointly) produce critical components which are not limited to engine alone. There is no other option in the long term.

we cannot compromise on quality here

Z10 have proved to be utter garage

wait for Turkish engine to be ready even if it means 2030

seriously we need Turkish helicopters too good and long term viable solution

At this rate we could have been producing Z10 in house... esp when we are willing to spend 1.5 BILLION USD

It is very difficult to make helicopter engine. Considering Turkey has no experience making one, it is akin to China make a fighter jet engine when China did not have experience in making one. The expected time frame for completion is about 20 years. It takes a lot of hard work but it can be done.

I say go with Z-10s.
God knows when, when Turkey unveils its engine you cannot be sure of its reliability.
It took almost 2.5 decades for Iran to Trust the Owj engine. Most important part was testing the engine for being assured of its reliability.
Iran has manufactured a turbofan engine almost 8 years ago but we still don't dare to use it due to its unreliability. A turboshaft one is even more difficult to Trust regarding the reliability.

dont compare copycat İran with Turkey

TEI is one of the few global aviation companies equipped with the technological infrastructure and competencies necessary for blisk-spool and turbine blades manufacturing.

Turkish TEI is one of 6 engine manufacters in the world with high technology turbine blades manufactoring and blisk-spool technologies

also , besides conventional production methods, Nadcap-accredited special processes and non-destructive inspections are among the specialties of TEI thanks to these capabilities

Turkish TEI having started its manufacturing activities with 12 parts in 1985,
currently manufactures over 1500 components for 50 different Engine programs with its more than three decade experience in part and module manufacturing

It's the problem!!!! Some folks think TEI is a start-up company!!! In fact it's the Turkish GE, established by the GE, and it's run by the Turkish origin ex GE top technological executives.....

Z-10's length and height are little bit more than T-129 but its empty weight 5,100 kg is double than T-129's 2,350 kg which needs to be reviewed by China for better power to weight ratio.

I sometimes wonder why Turkey does not go for Russian option. it definitely will not be easy to integrate it with current one. But the next generation helicopter can definitely be designed around multiple options including Russian ones.

Tragic to see what US has done not just Turkey and Pakistan as well:

He thinks that Pakistan can sit down and convince the US and Western powers LOL That is not going to happen and we all know that. This thinking is flawed and wishful.

What some of us still haven't figured out since our Cold War relations with the US/West is that our relationship with the US/West will always remain skewed. The US/West don't seek a mutually balanced relationship because they are simply not interested in long term relations. Relations between Pakistan and the US/West were always based on a temporary basis and even today in Afghanistan will remain on a temporary basis. Our relations are confined to one certain area. When one side isn't interested in sincere long term relations you cannot force your way.

Pakistan will have to accept that it has to look beyond US/West. The world is like an ocean and some of us are stuck like a broken record. Yes, having good relations with the US/West is tempting and in an ideal world not a terrible bad thing. Although one has to be realistic. Through China Pakistan has the luxury of establishing trading relations with African, South American and many other regions. Have we fully exploited such avenues?

The problem with certain Pakistanis is that they don't look beyond US/West. It just isn't possible. History has already proved that it is not possible to establish mutually beneficial relations with the West. Pakistan is very VERY lucky to have a behemoth of a power like China in its neighborhood. Otherwise it would have been really difficult for Pakistan to face the enormous challanges. Easy pickings is what it would have been. We are not fully exploiting and benefitting from our relationship with China. There is huge scope for Pakistan to further expand trade relations through Chinese influence. We haven't exploited OBOR to our advantage.

Unless we don't let go of our US/West obsession no real progress can be made. Pakistani leaders have to get out of their comfort zone and explore the entire spectrum.
