The indian airforce has

13 Sqds of Su30mki = 270
2 Sds Mirage 2000 -5 = 50
3 Sqds of Mig29 Smt = 63
1 Sqd Tejas = 20 planes ( 4 trainers)
1 sdq Rafale = 11 planes from 7th January (8 + 3 more arriving next week )

3 sqds left of MIG21 bision = 54 planes
6 sqds of Jaguars = Jaguars = 120 planes

29 SQDS ==========hence ALL THE BAULAHOO hai mar ghai about falling nos

1 rafale sqds arrives
1 more Tejas arrives by 2022 as ALL BISONS gone by 2022

1 more MIG29 upg ordered recently as emergency along with 12 additional MKI

Second the IAF today has 20 squadrons of SU30MKI mig29smt Mirage2000/rafale / Tejas

ie 13 , 3, 3 , 1 & 1 sqds respectively.

THATS 20/21 sqds = 400 PLANES

if AS YOU CLAIM half was MIG21 & JAGUAR we need 20 more sqds

ie 400 fighters

BUT we have 29 operational sqds

ALL BISONS ARE going by 2022

we have 3 sqds left 54 planes

and the jags remain 6 sqds

THIS IS WHY WE HAVE RUSH TO GET MORE FIGHTERS

How will you retire Bisons by 2022???? You have not signed for any new planes. At best India will receive the following in 2021

20 PAF squadrons and 70 PLAAF squadrons.

you can't expect to fight these with a low end chinease light weight fighter and the vintage f16

you need j10 or s euro canard

the range payload flexibility of indian top end fighters will be punishing and unrelenting against your single engines light weight fighters
over 7 to 10 days you will run.out of missles,and fuel.as your a economy can't sustain a war unless China rushes to your aid

Those Mig-21s have some tough cockpit glass. i seriously doubt if the pilot ejected entirely safely. it's like banging a cat's head with a helmet against the wall.
