Featured Joe Biden seeks restoration of peoples' rights in Kashmir; disappointed with CAA, NRC

Bad days for india as polls suggesting joe bidden is leading against trump by great margin and will likely to win next elections

No India has Kamala Devi Harris the expected running mate of Biden. Her previous statements on India are very pro India. She is half Indian and half American African. If Biden got elected and she becomes VP then she will be running the policy on India.
So watch out what you ask for.

Kamala Harris will most likely be the preferred Democrat President in 2024 if she becomes the VP, so she won’t comprise her standing with the left wing of the party by supporting Modi’s fascist policies. Already, she’s trying to redeem her controversial policies as California attorney-general.

The left wing of the Democratic Party is very powerful and just this week dethroned number of seasoned democratic stalwarts. This group led by Ilhan Omar, AOC etc are vehemently against Modi’s fascist policies.

So, be careful what you wish for.

Her policies or Biden will be no different then what Obama has going with Modi 95% love affair, big Hugs and 5% words of caution to Modi on Religious freedom and rights of Minorities. I love to see if they can tell Modi that business will not be same if he don't stop his Facsist policies and give rights to Kashmiri people of self govern.

Only if superpower's strategic policies are person dependent. Hogwash... India is to be pitched against China. Atleast that was/is so far the plan. Regardless of whoever is the president, that policy will continue, carrots and sticks will alternate depending on predefined objective.

This is just another narrative, rather a whip to india instead of a carrot... will keep alternating.

btw same applies for Pakistan, CPEC, China, Afghanistan....

In this statement a carrot, easy installments on loans, approval of loans all carrots... if not in line; whip will come as well. So don't jump to the conclusions.

Modi’s image has taken irreparable damage thanks to his renewed fascism and left’s activism against strongmen and neo-fascists. It’s driven by domestic US trajectory rather than Trump or Obama Policy. The Trump Administration remains close to the Modi and India.

Ultimately, Pakistan has to fight its own battles and spend money on message crafting and lobbying. When your own prime minister states at his National Assembly that Osama Bin Laden was ‘martyred’ and not bother to clarify his statement even after 24-hours, this has serious implications, especially for a country like Pakistan with terrorism label (rightly or wrongly).

The NRIs just went all republican even if it leads to them losing the h1b for India forever.

Two things:

1. Indian-Americans aren’t a significant voting bloc. Most Indian-Americans live in electorally secure states, so they don’t have much impact on the ultimate impact. They can donate money to candidates, but that’s it.

2. Indian-Americans were already switching to the Republican Party due to perceived anti-Muslim bias, rise of China and host of other international relations issues
By the way, about only 50% of Indian-Americans are Hindus; so they don’t all have the attachment to the Hindu nationalist ideology of the BJP. In fact, Indian-American congressmen such as Rep. Ro Khanna are opposed to the BJP and are part of the Pakistan Caucus at the Congress https://www.indiaabroad.com/us_affa...cle_2d8b13e4-c152-11e9-8378-d3a90999fe77.html

My remark was more in jest of the news... the voting group may have some impact on mayoral or congressional elections but in the wider gamut of things it is insignificant.

Exactly. Local players, even at that. Plus, the Republican Party is a dying party anyways lol

It all depends on this election - if enough people vote to change the current “regime”.

If only Joe Biden would come out of his basement once in a while, that would be a good start.

Insignificant in terms of numbers, I agree, especially if you’re talking about the Indian American Sanghis (Tulsi Gabbard & Trump supporters etc.) who find common ground with the American Right Wing in its xenophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment.

What’s your take on their influence in terms of financial contributions and attempts to replicate AIPAC?

The polarizing nature of the BJP is helpful to Pakistan in another way in the US in that it does seem to have split the moderate Indian American Hindus and Muslims from the Sanghis, but I think those differences will be papered over if the Congress comes back to power.

Trump is a one-time President. His first win was a fluke and against highly unpopular Hillary Clinton.

Yes, the Indian-Americans are trying to replicate AIPAC but they don’t have the reach nor the wealth of Jewish-Americans. But in a decade or so, who knows. The problem with Pakistani-Americans is that despite having wealth and connections, they are detached from Pakistan. This will have serious implications for Pakistan, in the long run. Majority of Pakistani-Americans in Washington DC & power corridor don’t hold any favorable views of Pakistan. If I was a Pakistani, this will worry me much more than whatever Indian-Americans do.
