Manufacture of the first Saudi-Brazilian turbo jet engine

It seems that a lot of people in this thread have forgotten about the fact that KSA has the best ranked universities in the entire Muslim world, that KSA spends more on education than any other Muslim country (both in terms of the actual sum and the percentage of the state budget, almost 10%), that 100.000’s (if not over 1 million by now) nationals have degrees from leading universities in the World, that 10.000’s of Saudi Arabians are working home and abroad in every imaginable technical field and for world-renowned firms spanning from NASA, Aramco to Novo Nordisk.

Not to forget tons of money (KEY) to invest with and one of the yougest populations in the world (no lack of local manpower like in some smal GCC states).

That and tons of money being invested in establishing a succesful and vibrant local arms industry. This is just the beginning. Tons of strategic projects are being worked on spanning from nuclear energy to jet engines to ballistic missiles. Some in the mainstream news, otters not.

Another huge step forward.

KSA has had experience with turbojet engines prior to this venture as well with various partners as described in detail in the "Made in KSA" thread with the right infrastructure available within KSA as well.

KSA has extensive and growing experience in regards to thermal engineering as well.

I remember years back talk of KSA being unable to make composite materials but that illusion ended quickly as well a while ago.

All needed for turbojets and turbofans.

People don't understand the scope of industrialization that is ongoing within KSA. 100's of new factories are being built, new industrial cities, huge investments in science and education (no need to talk about the rankings of KSA universities, KSA having almost twice as many patents as all Arab countries combined and in the top 15 in the world etc. in recent years). The state budget for next year allocates a record number of money for the education/science sector and the indigenous arms industry.

Given the deep secrecy of strategic military projects in KSA, I am 100% sure that KSA is ahead of schedule and has many other surprises in store.

@Philip the Arab

I know that Brazil is home to 15-20 million people of Arab origin (largest Arab diaspora in the world) but I am/was nevertheless surprised. Bolsonaro visited KSA not long ago and talked about strategic projects and growing cooperation but nevertheless unexpected.

That is a good question that I probably won't be able to answer, but you have to ask why the project took over a year? Just assembling kits would take way less than a year and most probably included education, machinery, and metallurgy techniques being transferred but again we most probably won't know. We will have to find out more about the engine, and hopefully see videos of production facilities.

As for cruise missiles: Saudi Arabia bought the whole Grom 2 project technologies with TOT from Ukraine.. the project includes Cruise missiles as well as Ballistic missiles and Coastal defence missiles..

This is very good news, and once these can be produced it can lead to exports to preferably other Arab countries, and allied nations. Do you know the name of the cruise missile?

Brother, please visit from time to time, your contribution is invaluable and with the decreasing number of Arab users, sane and knowledgeable voices like yours, are much needed. I have to admit that I stopped posting major or much news on this section, as it would mostly be an echo chamber, so your contributions and that of @Philip the Arab are much appreciated. I know that almost all Arabs have moved to Arab military forums and even more to social media, but non-Arabs with limited knowledge, will have little to no exposure to Arab military projects and news.

Anyway great to see you back and I hope that everything is well and good.

KSA have achieved much in short span of time, this is living example of a country lead by a true leader.
Considering the small population and challenges in hand... quite impressive.

The population is approaching 30 million natives and will increase further in the future reaching 70-80 million in 2 decades or so. The entire population of the Arabian Peninsula is approaching 100 million and a country like Yemen is excepted to have a 100 million big population if the current fertility rates will continue. In fact the number of Arabs worldwide (currently around 500 million) is expected to increase by 300-400 million in the next 3-4 decades, almost doubling. Some say even more.

So people will be the last thing we will need. Which was otherwise our (KSA) weakness decades ago.

This is achieved through hard work, dedication, decade old huge investments in science and education (many fruits of that), money (investments) and political will and a vision. Without all this, especially the last few things, it would have been impossible to achieve anything.
