In Russia Japan war in the early 1900s Japan beat Russia and got the southern half of Sakhalin and all of Kurils.

F-35 can track Su-35 before Su-35 can track F-35 so Japan can easily take air superiority over Sakhalin and Kurils and force Russia to surrender Sakhalin and Kurils to Japan and I doubt Russia would use nukes that would be MAD.

China prefers a fairly powerful Russia as bulwark against America. With Siberia Russia mainland spans 7000+ km coast to coast from Kerch strait in the west to Bering strait in the east, bigger than any other mainland.

It was a treaty signed in 2008. Russia gave China half of an island in the river in exchange China cannot ever again claim a nanometer of Russia land.

Well, we should also claim Kazakhstan and a few stans in theory. The fact is Russia is our natural ally, we need them to balance the US. Sino-Russian alliance is the only real bulwark against US hegemony. The world needs to be multipolar, absolute power corrupts as we can see from US actions after Soviet dissolution.

Small islands? These islands are inhabited by thousands of people. Plus they are strategic and control water ways.

Also, I guess if Japan attacks Russia that will drag China in because China don't want Japan to be bigger because instead of going to Europe to help Germany Japanese slaughtered millions of Chinese instead.
