The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday presented its agenda to be completed within the first 100 days of government — if the party is elected to power.

PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and former secretary-general Jahangir Tareen — who was disqualified as a lawmaker by the Supreme Court last year — presented parts of the agenda at an event in Islamabad. The agenda includes transformation in governance, revitalisation of economic growth and ensuring the country's national security.

Qureshi spoke mostly about regional disparities and presented the plan for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a political reconciliatory process for Balochistan, as well as for the creation of South Punjab province on administrative grounds.

He also said a federal plan would be introduced to improve civic amenities and the security situation in Karachi should the PTI come to power.

Speaking after him, Asad Umar presented the economic highlights of the proposed agenda, which includes provision of jobs to youth and promotion of tourism.

He said that the party would promote the manufacturing industry and pave the way for speedy growth of small and medium-sized businesses.

Transforming Pakistan into a business friendly country, tax reforms and construction of 5 million houses is also among the main points of the proposed 10-point economic policy.

Umar also promised the party would end power crisis, turn the ongoing China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into a revolutionary project and improve the citizens and industrialists' access to capital.

KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak recalled the party's initiatives and reforms brought in its five-year stint in power in the province.

He promised that important changes to to education and health system in the country would be ensured along with an expansion in the social safety net. He said that the party would protect the rights of women and ensure their progress in society. Khattak also said that his party would ensure provision of clean drinking water and begin a tree-plantation campaign.

Tareen spoke about the party's agenda for improvements in agriculture. He said that the PTI would take emergency measures to make agriculture profitable for farmers. He promised financial help and better access to loans for farmers while also promising to make the country self-sufficient in milk-related products.

PTI chief Imran Khan will shortly address the ceremony.

The party’s information secretary Fawad Chaudhry had told Dawn on Saturday that Khan would announce a plan that had taken a special committee three months to draft. The committee, according to him, included Qureshi, Tareen, Umar and Akif Khan. He said the Policy Unit of the party’s Election Management Cell and the Central Media Department had played a major role in preparing the plan.

While addressing a public meeting in Lahore last month, Khan had announced an 11-point programme to turn the country into a “new Pakistan”.

The country’s two largest parties — the PPP and PML-N — had mocked the programme and termed the PTI’s agenda mere rhetoric.

The Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) began unveiling its 100-day plan on Sunday.

The event commenced with PTI vice-president Shah Mehmood Qureshi addressing the audience in Islamabad. He was flanked on the stage by party chairman Imran Khan, Khyber-Pakhuntkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Asad Umer and Jehangir Tareen.

During his speech, Qureshi claimed the PTI to be the only party with a complete federal outlook. Chiding the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he said once a national party, the PPP was reduced to a provincial entity as the party scrambled to protect their interests in Sindh.

“The first initiative will be to merge of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) with K-P to upgrade the socio-economic position of the tribal areas,” he said.

The second and third points were to mainstreaming of ‘marginalised’ people and creation of South Punjab province. The PTI then stressed on uplifting the economic and living standards of Karachiites.

PTI leader Jehangir Tareen also spoke to reporters on the occasion, and outlined the agricultural policy of the party.

“People call agriculture as backbone but despite resources no government worked on it. We are 40 years behind in Agriculture research,” Tareen lamented.

The PTI leader told the media that the party would impose an agricultural emergency if elected, and would make farming a profitable profession once again.

He added that the research gap will be bridged, subsidies taregtted and loans provided to farmers for fertilizers.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.

Excellent job PTI. You're far better than the so called experienced teams of the corrupt traitors who have left the country with tons of debt and in more miserable condition than they got at the start of their terms.

He said that FATA 's merger into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was Imran Khan's top priority.

"FATA reforms is a life old dream of Imran Khan who has roamed the areas on foot. To bring prosperity to the people of these areas who have been deprived for decades.

"The miseries of the people of FATA are evident for all the country to see. We will remove and abolish the oppressive system. We will launch a mega development plan with involvement from the federal government. "

"Right now it is only the government of KP that has even thought of the people of FATA. We will engage all provinces to bring them into the mainstream and repeal the FCR with new laws in place after consultation with locals.

"Through a constitutional route we want to extend the jurisdiction of our courts; it’s been 1.5 years but this government has not even set in place one foundation stone for a legal structure in FATA." We will create employment opportunities for the people in FATA.

South Punjab province

He said PTI intents to establish South Punjab province.

“We also intent to carve out a new province for the southern region in Punjab,” he said, adding that “time has come to address the prevailing sense of deprivation in South Punjab.”

"We want to bring marginalised people back into the mainstream."

"Southern Punjab; a province of 4 crores. Today this province is marginalised and there is no devolution of power there. We still sit with power in the hands of a few. It is time to remove this feeling of deprivation in Southern Punjab."

"This area is even bigger than the current province of KP and we want to empower it with the rights it deserves."
