IMO, the only 'missing' thing here would be a medium-weight (MTOW 21-24-ton) multirole fighter to complement the Kaan. I don't think the Turkish Air Force would need it provided it can upgrade its F-16s. However, it's definitely interesting that 2 of the TF-X concepts were single-engine designs, and Turkiye might still desire a manned carrier-borne fighter...

Those designs were considered when it was still thought by the officials that the F135s would be available to Turkey's disposal. It was also when the aircraft was envisioned as a Superbug class design, not the Strike Eagle it eventually evolved into.

What really restricts F-35 is the design compromises that were made to meet the requirements of a dozen different users. As a result the size and the MTOW of the aircraft is putting a lot of preassure to an already over-engineered engine.

The future indigenous engine of Kaan is going to be more similar to the F119 than to the F135. Can Turkey churn out a multirole design out of it? Maybe. But it wouldn't be ideal considering the sizes of currently discussed 5.5th/6th gen designs.
