President Asif Ali Zardari [ Images ] was repeatedly interrupted by boos and slogans from opposition lawmakers as he made his fifth consecutive address to a joint session of Parliament on Saturday to outline his government's policies for the final year of its five-year term.

The slogans began even before Fehmida Mirza, the Speaker of the National Assembly or lower house of Parliament, invited Zardari to address the joint session shortly before 2 pm.

As Zardari walked to the rostrum, the slogan-shouting increased and opposition lawmakers could be heard saying, Loot maar bandh karo.

Zardari initially smiled and continued reading his speech in English.

However, he appeared to get flustered as the slogans and boos from the opposition benches continued for almost 15 minutes.

The members of the treasury benches responded by thumping their desks before the opposition finally stopped shouting slogans.

The opposition lawmakers did not quieten down despite several calls from Speaker Mirza for order and maintaining the decorum of the House.

Zardari became the first elected President to address a joint session of Parliament for the fifth consecutive time.

His address largely focussed on the Pakistan People's Party-led government's efforts to deal with various challenges facing the country, including terrorism and a crippling power crisis.

The address was attended by the three service chiefs, including army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani [ Images ], chief ministers and governors of the four provinces, diplomats and senior officials.

now that`s an achievement .... I was really unknown about that...:undecided:

What is the exact acheiveemnt in doing a fifth speech?

Has the piblic life got any better?

He could do a 50th speech for all the nation cares!

And when he said that the nation is going forward with the vision of Benazir Bhutto, I just damned my self and had a facepalm delivered to me by this Azhole.

Are we being held hostage by this Bhutto legacy, last I read, we were supposed to be going forward with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam, not BB.

.
^^ that`s why he booed... but instead of booing why don`t they do some constitutional job to bring him down...

same pots in politics...

well we know now that after this election there will be no more ppp

See, those who live outside Pakistan are unaware of the ground realities. The vote bank of PPP is Interior Sindh where the Bhutto's own the lands. Therefore, the people view them as good and vote for them. In some parts of Punjab, they buy votes.
For PMLN, they own many lands and once again the people there will vote for them. Mark my words, at best PTI will win 20-25% of the Urban Areas and that's discounting the MQM. The 70% of rural areas will go to PPP and PML-N because they own those lands and people have to vote for him. So sadly, no, PPP will win
Here, see history
Since Zia died, Bhutto got power, then PML-N then PPP again then PML-N again, then martial law and then PPP again.
I might be a bit wrong in the order but since PPP started, it has won and only lost to PML-N

.
i thought MQM was going to boycott this session BUT AS USUAL MQM went! i love the games of MQM opposition and allies! true status "ITS COMPLICATED"

.
what was the logic behind "ENGLISH ADDRESS" of President zardari when there was not a single foreigner present in parliament during his entire speech?

your also taking Pakistani people lightly people are sick of these lootas and there excuses. IK is going to smaller areas and telling people to rise as well as urban areas so i think in order to assume 25 to 25% votes would be inaccurate. you can only make a assumption close to election time

You cannot make assumptions like that when it's not even close to election time. In rural areas Imran Khan has had so many jalsas. And have you read history? Even Hitler was losing in election of Germany and then a miracle happened.

.
the only thing is media didn't cover the rest of the jalsa after karachi so people assume that the party has leveled out
