One thing is for sure.. Saudis dot give much importance to his right to consular access. Wonder if Pak authorities really pressed for this..?
Not sure about that...it is not the first time... this is applicable to many Pakistanis overseas... shows you how much backing you will have when you have a "green" passport in the world today...in contrast IF any US Citizen was caught into this predicament he would have met a totally opposite treatment...SAD BUT TRUE.
Now he knows how Sharia Law feels like.. won't be advocating for the same once he is back in Pak after 8yres!

Maybe there was some tacit support to Saudi from Pakistani authorities in this case. Zaid Hamid had the backing of some from the military establishment back in Pakistan... & authorities couldn't touch him. sad but true reality. I was in Dubai last month and they lost my passport.
