Establishment of the "Russia bad and US our biggest trading partner and China only a secondary source of weapons because the western mai baaps don't sell us weapons" fame?
Establishment is only close to the business managers of their fast food franchise empire in the West.
Many on PDF and in Pakistan are mistaken to assume that the Establishment is subservient to the WEST or serve the WEST. This perception is absolutely detached from ground realities.
1. The Establishment approached China to meet Pakistan's security needs when the WEST was not willing to provide much-needed technical support.
- China provided nuclear technology to Pakistan.
- China provided ballistic missile technology to Pakistan. Related information in here, here, here, here, and here.
- China made it possible for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to realize its JF-17 Thunder program.
- China has become the largest supplier of arms to Pakistan.
The Establishment also made it possible for China to understand Western military technologies.
Pakistan and China's Almost Alliance
Policymakers in the United States and throughout Asia should take note of why the Sino-Pakistani relationship has endured for so long, what each partner gets from the other, and what inherent limitations prevent the union from developing into a true alliance.

2. The Establishment under Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pervez Musharraf laid the foundation of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in 2006.
3. The Establishment was NOT on the same page with United States (US) on the matter of how to reshape political landscape of Afghanistan. The US put pressure on Pakistan to drop its support for Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) but the Establishment stood firm on its decision to support TTA. Trump administration came to terms with this reality and chose to make a deal with TTA in Doha Accords in which respective positions and interests of both parties were acknowledged and accepted in writing. I am not a fan of this decision though because Trump administration cut military aid to Pakistan Army and Pakistan's problems are not solved with this decision. It turns out that TTA is supporting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
