India: Youth shouts Pakistan zindabad at Urs holy event in Taj Mahal
The youth suspected of shouting 'Pakistan zindabad' is yet to be apprehended.
The video of a youth clearly shouting the slogan went viral almost immediately after the incident. In a few hours, security agencies scrambled to search for the youth identified in the video as the one shouting the slogan. He is yet to be apprehended.
According to sources in the Archaeological Survey of India, the slogans were shouted when a green 'chadar' was being brought through the Royal Gate of the Taj Mahal by a group of devotees, mostly comprising young men and children.
When the chadar crossed the threshold of the gate, a youth came forward and shouted 'Pakistan Zindabad'. He then turned back and disappeared in the crowd before anyone could understand what happened. Security was searching for him in the nearby Tajganj area as well as the rest of Agra.
Hindustani Biradari Secretary Ziauddin said this was precisely the kind of incident that was being warned about.
The lax security arrangements at Taj Mahal during Urs makes it a magnet for miscreants. Local intellectuals had been warning the administration against making the Taj Mahal so easily accessible to everyone during Urs.
Munawwar Hussain Zaidi of the Urs Committee said the committee has decided to register a criminal case against the youth who shouted the slogan and his face is clearly visible in the video.
