Yandex made free testing for coronavirus in the framework of the project “Help is near,” the company told Kommersant. Tests are available for residents of Moscow and Moscow region of any age, later the service will appear in other regions.
For the first time, Yandex announced the launch of testing on April 16. Then it was said that it would be conducted for residents of Moscow over 65 years old, and only the first 10 thousand tests would be free for people at risk. “A few days after the launch of testing for elderly Muscovites, our team assessed the demand for the service and our infrastructure capabilities. We see that the testing needs to be done specifically for those people who continue to work and provide a safe life for the inhabitants of the country during this difficult time: on the streets, in shops, in social institutions, in the delivery of goods and products. Therefore, we decided to conduct all testing for free, ”explained Tigran Khudaverdyan, Managing Director of the Yandex group of companies.
Testing is paid from the funds previously allocated by Yandex to the project fund, as well as from donations, the collection of which the company opened a week ago, said its representative. As part of the partnership, testing is carried out by the laboratory services Archimedes, CityLab, Family Doctor and Labquest, using test systems TsSP, Generium, Litekh and DNA-Technology, as well as express tests of the company EMG, in which the Russian Direct Investment Fund invested.
