Believe me, my neighbor and a good friend came over a few days ago, loaded with at least 7 hand guns, and he displayed qualities of each of those in my living room and let me pull the trigger on each of them after taking out the bullets. He's into guns. I am not. I have a .22 to kill snakes--that's it. He calls my gun 'a piece of $hit' in a friendly way.

America is very safe in most places. Americans are also very charitable people. And, in the many cruises I have done, the international staff opinion was that Americans (and maybe Canadians too) are the friendliest, most open cruisers in the world.

PS. It's true that my brown skin can be an issue if, Lord forbids, another terrorist attack happens here. Though I would hate the bigotry but a part of me would understand that as primal human nature.

But..but..but..everybody is poor. Almost nobody has $1000 in their savings account. It's a rabid fight for survival in the streets just to get food on the table. The list seems pretty bullshit to me if you ask.

China is below so many African countries? I know of 2 cities in China; Shenzhen and Shanghai and both were pretty safe for their size.

India is ranked in 100s? Based on what? a few crimes in 2-3 cities? Does it even factor in the rest of the country? Over 15 states in India are 30 times safer than 85% of European countries put together.

Brazil is safe?

Philippines is worse than Yemen?

UK, Netherlands and Italy are safer than Japan? The chances of you getting mugged, beaten up by skinheads or simply murdered in UK and Italy or pickpocketed and beaten up in Netherlands is 100 times higher than in Japan.



The list is so messed up.

Japan by the way, should be among the top 5 by any rate.

I have been to over nearly 100 countries across the world and can easily say that this list is absolute bullshit.

well, I think I like your neighbor. He would fit well down here in Texas. I am into guns too, but I guarantee neither of us would go on a shooting spree. That's what people don't understand. A few nutjobs give gun owners a bad name.
But getting back on topic, the US is pretty safe comparatively and we follow the rule of law. And yes we have freedom of speech ( look how many people bitch about the Govt.) and freedom of religion. Unlike China which has a million muslims locked up in gulags they call "re-education centers" or grades it's own citizens on a good behavior "credit score". Some day that will blow up in their faces. Mass oppression never works and never has.
