World’s longest flight takes off from Doha on way to Auckland

Qatar Airways’s flight between Doha and Auckland on Sunday (Today) is the world’s longest scheduled passenger flight.

Qatar’s latest route has a flight time of 16 hours and 20 minutes. The 9,032 mile journey will begin at 5:10am from Doha (local time). The flight is scheduled to arrive in Auckland at 7:30am (local time) on Monday.





Operated by the carrier’s Boeing 777-200LR Qatar Airways’ flight 920 will pass above Dubai, northern Oman, the south of India as well as Sri Lanka. It will also the fly over the Indian Ocean and Western Australia before descending into Auckland. The return journey is expected to take more time. The trip costs $1,265 one-way for an economy seat while business class costs $4,500.

With an 8,824 mile trip from Dubai to Auckland on Airbus A380, Dubai-based Emirates presently holds the world’s longest flight title. However, Qatar Airways may not hold the title for long after snatching it From Emirates.

Singapore Airlines is planning on launching a route from Singapore to New York in 2018; spanning 9,529 miles – some 497 miles longer than the Doha-Aukland route.

Well that Singapore route in 2018 is nothing new. It was simply discontinued a few years ago and is now being ramped up again.

As the trip in the OP is direct from Doha to Auckland, not San Francisco,
I'm almost certain it's shorter than by Russia and Santa's place.
