Lahore: Former Foreign Minister (FM) Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri said international powers are engaged in a great game in the region like 19th century targeting the fate of Pak-Afghan people.

Talking to newsmen in a dinner party hosted in the honour of the lawyers in Lahore on Friday, Kasuri said Pakistan should clearly explain its priorities, since US cannot achieve its objectives neglecting the interest of Islamabad.

‘Pak-Iran relations have become tensed now a days, whereas ties between two countries had improved during the last regime.’

Kashmir dispute should be solved through dialogs as soon as possible, he added.

We tend to blame others for all our ills.

Pk began a game in Af in the 80's which had no rules. Somewhere down the lines the goal posts have shifted and the hunter finds himself being hunted.

Slowly & steadily things are spinning out of control. Peshawar is competing with Baghdad for dubious honours.

Why every ex-Minister or ex-officialdom would care and dare to speak like that once he's no more on the seat?

If Afghanistan had taken care of itself then no one would have started any games, Pakistan started the game to save its own skin. If Pakistan had so much of a problem with Afghanistan why wasn't there no game plan before the 80s?? We did not plunged into this whole affair on our own, we got dragged. If Soviets hadn't invaded Afghanistan and Pakistan had not been sandwiched by India on one side and USSR on the other or a India friendly country making problems for us all the time on our western borders, we wouldn't had dived into the game. Don't worry, we will be the hunters again too, rather we still are the hunters and being hunted too, both at the same time.

And sorry to disappoint you but Peshawar is for the time being is not in any way contesting the dubious honors to take first place from Baghdad. Nor it will happen.

The highlighted part above is at the root of the prob. No one can forever run with the Hare & hunt with the Hound. You have to take sides or at least a visible & verifiable stand. How can you bat & field at the same time ?

As rgds, Af, the ' strategic depth' lost its depth - this is something Pk had to learn the hard way after the famous " bombed back to the stone age' phone call from Uncle Sam.

Lastly, it does not disappoint me if Peshawar.... . It only saddens one to see innocent ppl lose their lives & security thanks to the ham handed policies of those in power - it does not matter which side of the border it happens.
