With BECA, India Will be US’ De Facto Military Ally

Saddam was being played by US ...like a record. Frontside and backside.

India should beware of US true intentions before forging any alliance.

The butchers in Beijing have a great record too
India is so insecure at the moment that it is willing to give everything including money, prestige and sovereignty to Uncle Sam. In the end Uncle is going to leave India as usual high and dry.

So says a frustrated keyboard warrior
the real decisions are made in the halls of Washington

In recent days discussions taken place for Indian's request to purchase MQ9 Reaper from the USA.

Pravin Sawhney has shed some light on this request and India signing up to BECA.

From his talk, it is obvious that India is in panic mode. It is shaken by Chinese current moves.
Keeping aside their usual fake bravado and chest thumping, the reality is that Indians are feeling very insecure at the moment.
Their insecurity is evident from the fact that on one side Modi after issuing an incredible statement "not an inch of India's land is lost" has gone quiet.
But had allowed his Defence Minister Rajnath to let the cat out of the bag that India has lost 1000 sq km to China recently.

It seems the USA have trapped Indians in to panic buying the hardware from them. While dangling a carrot at them, to make them a client state, but without the security of a defence pact on the line of "NATO" , to provide common defence if India is attacked.

Modi is really taking India to an Abyss fast. We cannot wait for India's destruction.
This is mostly an intel agreement. Its a tacit admission that India is unable to effectively target with its own resources... as seen during the Balakat aggression. Result was an embarrassment with USA having to step in and bail out India.

Their ability to target in a strike scenario will improve significantly. It threatens China more than Pakistan...since India's ability to see inside China in a timely manner was much poorer then even what we saw in their attempts in Balakat.

Won't really change the outcome of a two front war IMO.

Which has lots of oil, oh you might want to ask him how being buddies with the US turned out, or are we going to wash away the Iran/Iraq war?

Let us cut the crap. Enemy of enemy was a friend in the Iran-Iraq war

If Saddam was a buddy of USA how come the Iraqi army had no American military equipment - T-72 tanks, BMP-2 armor vehicles, MiG-21/MiG-29 fighters don't look American to me. Do the armchair geostrategists on PDF have a good explanation ?

Crap? You might want to read the evidence I put up, it was more than the notion of "an enemy of my enemy is my friend".
The Iraqis were tied into contracts with the Soviets for years, you obviously weren't around then to know about it.

Time for China to sign a defense pact with Pakistan and show the world who is the rising Super Power.
Some things don't even need such ceremonial optics. We can show it when deemed necessary but the understanding between Pakistan and China goes very deep of one another.

This reminds me, I have a friend with whom I need not even talk, we understand each other jokes and share same thinking just by a moment of look at each other.

Regarding this agreement. I remember when we were deep in U.S camp with SEATO and CENTO, and we all know how reliable U.S was back then. Good luck my Indian friends with an agreement with U.S.

Quit BSing about Soviet contracts. A guy like Saddam would not honor it if he gets a better deal.
If Saddam got his hands on F-16s he would acquire them in a heart beat. Given the low oil prices most of the money to buy weapons came from kuwait and Saudis.

Saddam attacked a US ally Kuwait. See where he landed. Quit dodging the main point

Was Pakistan ever in the US Camp ? For a SEATO member you did not bother to send a single soldier to fight in Vietnam. All you cared about is fighting India

US don't have a habit to treat ally like ally, more or less like vassal.
Due to the asymmetry of power, between US and India, India is acting more and more like vassal.
Actually that's quite normal, India is less developed, depends on the west hugely. and India can't defend herself.
When India has no better choice, US just take advantage from it.

That's what China does not the US. America never abandons it's allies. They came to help pakistanis during the 71 war. And stop deluding yourself, you and your so called iron birader can come and fight together and see for yourself if you stand any chance against us. Blabbering here won't make us take you seriously.

Where have you been in past decades? Under the rock? Read some history, at least read some damn wiki.

‘We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow.’
The quote in the headline is one of the best known and most accurate descriptions of the nature of international relations. Spoken by former Prime Minister Henry Palmerstone in the British Parliament in 1848.

Pakistan supported USA in shaping the course of events in Afghanistan from time-to-time. Not good enough for you?

USA did not help Pakistan defeat India in Kashmir on the other hand - not once. Why complain about Pakistan not helping USA in Vietnam then? Nobody wins in Vietnam anyways.

Pakistan does not commit to imperialistic moves against Foreign countries - Pakistan did not join Saudi-led coalition in Yemen for instance.

Pakistan have contributed to UN-led missions in Foreign countries however. This is a principled approach.

Please understand that complaints extend both ways.

Friend,

This is true for all countries more or less.

Robust partnerships are possible between countries nevertheless. Pakistan and China have time-tested partnership for instance.

USA does have robust partnerships with Israel, Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait and more.

Bilateral relationships can be robust with some and complicated with others - mixed bag.

Americans are also opportunists - apparent in USA - India dealings in the present.

American supplied helicopters facilitated Indian military buildup in Ladakh in response to Chinese moves in the region - by no means a small feat for Indian armed forces because they could not manage this otherwise.

USA is providing arms to Taiwan as well which is surprising given the proximity of Taiwan to China and that this is a RED LINE for China.

My view is to not to rush to conclusions over these matters.

I am responding to a quote complaining about reliability of American support for Pakistan

"Regarding this agreement. I remember when we were deep in U.S camp with SEATO and CENTO, and we all know how reliable U.S was back then. Good luck my Indian friends with an agreement with U.S. "

You are a SEATO member and you do not want to particpate in the Vietnam war.

Expecting all out American support for war in Kashmir is not fair. Regarding border disputes USA never supported their resolution by military force - Japan-Russia, Israel-Egypt, UK-Argentina

Pakistan does not commit to imperialistic moves against Foreign countries - Pakistan did not join Saudi-led coalition in Yemen for instance.

One way to look at the Vietnam war is the imperialistic attempt by North Vietnam against South Vietnam.

Plus Pakistani men in uniform have participated in suppressing internal revolts in Jordan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia (all of them autocratic monarchies)

The only one speaking $hit here is you, something you do with every post now. You haven't got a clue past anything you read on the net. Do you realise how many years the Iraqis purchased weapons from the Soviets for? You can't just simply say stop, when you've entered into contracts for purchasing, servicing, add-ons etc over the years. Also at the time there was no need for him to buy US weapons, as the Soviets produced hardware supposedly to the equivalent standards the US was.

Was USA attacked? Even Americans don't agree on this. We helped the USA give the USSR its own Vietnam.

one way information sharing agreement...yes de fecto ally
