William Hague has urged Iran to spare the life of a pastor reportedly facing execution for refusing to recant his Christian faith and return to Islam.

Youcef Nadarkhani
8:27AM BST 29 Sep 2011
Youcef Nadarkhani, 34, a member of the Protestant evangelical Church of Iran, was arrested in 2009 for apostasy and he was sentenced to death last year.
The father of two held services in "home churches" in Rasht, a town about 150 miles north west of Tehran.
Reports suggest that an Iranian court gave Pastor Nadarkhani a third chance to avoid hanging, but he replied: "I am resolute in my faith and Christianity and have no wish to recant."
Mr Hague called for the Iranian regime to overturn Pastor Nadarkhani's sentence, adding: "I deplore reports that Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, an Iranian Church leader, could be executed imminently after refusing an order by the Supreme Court of Iran to recant his faith.
"This demonstrates the Iranian regime's continued unwillingness to abide by its constitutional and international obligations to respect religious freedom.

Then people say in iran they let you be whatever they want, my own family were threatened to convert that why they escaped ..

How sad... Iran shall free the person.

If he got punished, than Iran shall stop calling itself as Islamic republic.

this is what you get when you mix religion with gov issues.

Get caught with a bible in Iran and you will face police questioning and confiscation of the bible. Get caught with 2 bibles or more and you will face prison time. As well as intense physical interrogation trying to get you to give the names of people in your church. And any organizations that might help support them. Despite the persecution Christianity is growing in Iran. Especially among the young people who have grown disillusioned with the heavy handed tactics of the mullahs.

More anti Iranian propaganda. The guy is a Iranian and he will be treated according to the law of Iran.
William Hague needs to go f.uck himself

How is this propaganda?
So simply because he is a Christian, he is being killed??

No, we have our own laws in our country, we do whatever we like in our country.
That is fine. Every country has the right to enact laws that the people believe are fitting to their tastes. So just for curiousity, do you support the killing of Christians among a population largely composed of muslims? Keep in mind am not criticizing Iranian laws. Am trying to understand the intellectual foundation of those laws.

No Sir, it is not fine as stated by Gambit.

You cannot make laws of injustice otherwise you risk to loos the trust of people.

In case of Iran... you 'do what ever' in your state and label it Islamic... is giving false image of Islam to Iranian masses and larger world.

This is why i said Iran shall drop Islamic republic from its name, still the wrong will remain wrong but not got associated with religion.

This is a horrible act, there is a reason why they do not dare to do this to Jews, Israel would never tolerate this.
The same must be done by christian countries, this is a person that is killed for no other reason than his faith.
