Reacting to reports that lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung may invite the single largest party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to form government in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti on Friday said he will shave his head if that happens.

"Will shave my head if the BJP forms government in Delhi. They had already refused in writing, If they form government in Delhi, it will be the murder of democracy," Bharti said.

Other party leaders, too, critiqued the development. AAP leader Ashutosh said it is unconstitutional. "It would be unconstitutional if a party that has refused in writing, is invited to form govt," he said.

Former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said the BJP doesn't want fresh polls in Delhi.

"I don't understand how will a government of horse-trading will control inflation and power crisis in Delhi. The BJP doesn't have courage to face elections. It is unfortunate if they try the back door mocking democracy," Sisodia said.

In the Delhi Assembly, the BJP and its ally Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has 29 legislators, down from 32 after its MLAs Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pravesh Verma were elected to the Lok Sabha. The AAP has 28 members and the Congress has eight.

Delhi is under President's rule after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the chief minister's post in mid-February along with his ministers after a 49 days in the government.

I'd like to see the AAP in power in Delhi. They made a mistake earlier but I'm sure they won't repeat it again because it has cost them so heavily. BJP in centre vs AAP in Delhi will be healthy competition and therefore good for our democracy.

Is Batman Bharti's P!ss collection center incurring losses?

Healthy competition! really? Politics is serious business, not a game like AAP has made it to be.

Despite the previous drama their intentions are noble. As an Aam Aadmi I'm glad to give them a couple of chances more.

I'm greedy for corruption free governance. Once this happens most of us will easily be able to afford free water/electricity :D

If you really want to shave your head go to Tirupati. That will do you lot of good.

If they get another chance for 5 years, they will act like just any other politician, didn't you see how they lied (CM's Bunglow issue), and tried to play "Politics" (the resignation drama). The worst part would be a callous governance in Delhi with a doomed economy after 5 years of populist socialist "Free for all" schemes !! Remember, they just subsidized the electricity & water bills, they didn't do anything to improve their efficiency to reduce cost, as promised before election.

In any case, I don't think those who were funding AAP to create roadblocks for a probable BJP government in center would like to continue funding them anymore. :)
