Will EU lift arms embargo against China in 2008?

The French President Nicolas Sarkozy reiterated during his November 2007 visit to China that the European Union should lift arms embargo upon China in 2008. Starting in the second half of 2008, France will hold the presidency of the EU and its actions after that will deserve close observation. Looking back at EU’s internal discussions on this particular issue in the past 5 years, the whole issue of arms embargo on China is expected to develop to a direction more unfavourable to China.

Kanwa makes only conjectures, and it's nothing new.

I dont see any sign that EU will modify its arm embargo against China in the years to come, but obviously China's pace on military technology is being quicken up.

btw, dont believe in what Sarkozy says, he said he's not going to Beijing for the olympics.

I think it matters little to China at the moment.Inspite of the embargo, where thereis an important bit of technology to be had, they are still getting it, although they might have to pay a little bit more. The Yuans are an example with French technology for noise reduction. AND for the discerning critics, IT WAS NOT VIA PAKISTAN.
