With China seemingly getting COVID-19 under control, will China sell N95 masks to the United States?

China will export masks to USA now that Trump and Xi has communicated over phone and reached certain agreement, but Chinese people are widely angry and reluctant to agree so.

You know why?

A story of The Farmer and the Snake.

Back in 2005, Hurricanes Rita and Katrina left a devastating path of destruction on the Gulf and East coasts. As American people began to rebuild homes and buildings, there was a shortage of building materials. Builders then turned to Chinese manufacturers to import drywall to use in buildings constructed between 2005 and 2008.

Through the coordination between USA and Chinese governments, Chinese drywall Company BNBM group along with others decided to export building materials to USA. After the reconstruction the American house owners filed a class action against Chinese companies, which later went on for over 15 years.

Eventually the Chinese companies agreed to settle for 248 million USD, with a case cost of over 40 million USD paid by the Chinese companies.

Chinese people were utterly disappointed and upset over the happening.

Same thing just occurred in Europe recently.

Dutch media NOS reports that the KN95 face masks recently imported from China were recalled by the health ministry of Netherlands, saying they were *defective*.

Honderdduizenden Chinese mondmaskers teruggeroepen uit Nederlandse ziekenhuizen

COVID-19: Netherlands recalls defective Chinese face masks

I looked into the case and cannot help being upset.

KN95 is the standard acknowledged in countries like China(China GB2626-2006), Japan and USA (United States NIOSH-42CFR84), those KN95 masks were qualified in China and USA, but not qualify for European standards FFP2 (Europe EN 149-2001).

The dutch purchased KN95 masks that were perfectly qualified under China’s criteria, and such crucial information was by law required to be included in purchase orders and contracts, meaning that the dutch KNEW before purchase this is KN95 and not EU standard masks.

And now the dutch health ministry tested the masks with another standard and announced recall because they found the masks defective.

This is purely bad faith, and disgusting.

You knew what you bought, and there are FFP2 masks manufacturers in China that can produce EU-qualified masks.

You knowingly bought into one standard, and called it under qualified by another standard.

I don’t know what to say anymore.

And here is the Spanish one:

The spaniards recently purchased the test kits, through a Spanish local dealer, manufactured by a Chinese biotech company named BIOEASY based in Shenzhen, and they said to the press that those test kits were faulty and only showed 30% accuracy.

Chinese company sold sub-standard test kits: Spain, Czech

Czech press also reported the test kits from China were faulty and deficient.

However later, Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Jan Hamacek (CSSD) said that the wrong methodology has probably been chosen. "In my opinion, this is not about some scandalous revelation that it is not working," said Hamacek after a government meeting.

According to Hamacek, the Chinese rapid test kits can be "used when the disease has been around for some time," "or if someone returns after quarantine after fourteen days," he added. The leader said that in his opinion, it would be most appropriate to use the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test (conventional lab test) to detect the disease at an early stage.

Rychlotesty na koronavirus z Číny mají podle krajské hygieničky chybovost až 80 procent

Later the Spanish authorities clarified the test kits manufactured by Bioeasy in Shenzhen were qualified under European’s CE standards, and the Spanish government decided to honor the contract and import more from Bioeasy.

Ministerio de Sanidad, Consumo y Bienestar Social - Gabinete de Prensa - Notas de Prensa

Bioeasy later also made a statement to investigate into the incident and they suspected some Spanish doctors may have NOT correctly followed the instruction provided and performed the test with the right method.

So far the facts show that, these tests were only *deficient* because doctors were NOT using it correctly per the instruction guides.

Again, if the test kits were truly faulty and unqualified, there is NO way the Czech and Spanish government continue importing from China under the same contract.

But such news went all over the world, all over social media, western press immediately reported how faulty and defective the made-in-China can be, misleading western people to gain an extremely negative view of China and Chinese people, some even said that the Chinese were feeding on their blood!

How horrible this is!!

Such happening went viral in China, Chinese people are now utterly disappointed and outrageous. They just cannot seem to figure out why people are doing this, why their help and support with good faith was returned by shameless attacking and demonizing.

I personally feel so powerless that I am not even angry anymore. When I browse through the news and posts on social media, seeing that some of the Chinese people are even worried about Spanish and Czech doctors using it incorrectly may delay efforts to help the patients.

They are good people, with good hearts, and rewarded with nothing but bashing and humiliating.

I don’t know what is more to say about this.

China’s global times confirmed that Bioeasy will replace the test kits. Spanish authorities confirmed that those so-called ‘defective’ test kits were legit and qualified under CE criteria, and they also decided to continue the contract with Bioeasy.

Further investigation have been conducted by both Chinese and Spanish authorities respectively.

One question:

Don’t you guys find it weird? That Chinese medical supplies to Iran, Italy, Japan, South Korea were perfectly adequate?

  • Czech said the Chinese medics were defective, and then claimed a false conclusion.
  • Spain said the Chinese medics were defective, and then claimed a false conclusion.
  • Philippines said the Chinese medics were defective, and then claimed a false conclusion.
  • Netherlands the Chinese medics were defective, and then was discovered it was due to a false comparison with another standard.
Do you see the pattern here?

  1. They purchased Chinese medical supplies and claimed it defective
  2. Media widely reported
  3. Governments clarified themselves or testified by others.
  4. Media remained silent.
Perhaps it has something to with the propaganda war going on?

It was said that some people, including lawyers and international traders in China were very upset by this and started calling local manufacturers and government authorities, urging them to stop selling to these countries.

Dear biased westerners, you are on your own this time.

.
Actually China should stop supplies. Whole lot of propaganda going on about the rejection of kits and supplies.

. .
Well China is supplying

Of course, we have their princelings .. I mean ward*..

From GOT

A ward is a member of a noble house who has been taken in by another noble family to be raised for a time. The practice varies, with it sometimes being undertaken voluntarily, for example, to help prospective heirs learn the customs of other regions of Westeros as part of their education. It can also happen involuntarily, with the "ward" actually being a hostage to force his or her family into good behavior or until a ransom is paid. Sometimes, as part of marriage alliances, one of the betrothed is taken as a ward so he or she can get to know his or her future spouse.

Well it appears US and China both need each other

. .
Well...It is a vendor and buyer relationship between China and US. What can be the compelling reason of not selling the mask to US?

. . .
All kits in Pakistan are being imported from china currently so i can only hope we are not getting the some defected test kits and protection gear.

.
An interesting revelation from the governor of New York last night on CNN. He said NY is purchasing critically needed equipment from China, but other 50 states from US is bidding separately with higher prices. They are trying to out-bid each other and so the prices keep going up.

Later after days passed, the US federal government get in and out bid all American states with even higher prices.

China is not only supplying just USA, the whole World is looking to China for urgently needed medical equipment, and they are also bidding against each other, including USA. So now it is the highest bidder get the prize, unless it is government to government deals where you get friendship prices and free donations.

Chinese people must be stupid if they don't understand the drywall issue. The Chinese company clearly made a dangerous product. It literally ate all the metal in their homes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_drywall
"Chinese drywall" refers to an environmental health issue involving defective drywall manufactured in China, imported to the United States and used in residential construction between 2001 and 2009 — affecting "an estimated 100,000 homes in more than 20 states."

In samples of contaminated drywall, laboratory tests will detect off-gassing of volatile chemicals and sulfurous gases — including carbon disulfide, carbonyl sulfide, and hydrogen sulfide. The emissions worsen as temperature and humidity rise, will give off a sulfuric (rotten egg) odor and will cause copper surfaces to turn black and powdery, a chemical process indicative of a hydrogen sulfide reaction and an early indication of contaminated drywall. Copper pipes, electrical wiring, and air conditioner coils are affected, as well as silver jewelry.

Homeowners have reported health symptoms including respiratory problems such as asthma attacks, chronic coughing and difficulty breathing, as well as chronic headaches and sinus issues
...
Drywall was imported by the United States during the construction boom between 2004 and 2007, spurred by a shortage of American-made drywall due to the rebuilding demand of nine hurricanes that hit Florida from 2004 to 2005, and widespread damage caused along the Gulf Coast by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

...

Stuff like this is why Chinese companies are simply not trusted and you have a reputation for shoddy products worldwide.

My house was built in early 2005 and Katrina was in late 2005 and I feel lucky that the builders didn't put this sh*t in my house. I was saved by just a few months. Every time I do some work I always worry I'm going to someday find a black sooted wire or pipe..

You left out this statement.

Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin Co., Ltd.,[15] part of Knauf Gips KG,[16] has been identified as a major producer of imported Chinese drywall.

Importers are not totally innocent.

.
do the countries get to keep the “defective” products or is it returned

sounds like a scam
