What's new

Why you should NEVER cross a Gurkha?

Slaves? Mere bhai, these Gorkha soldiers (sepoys) get paid more than your generals!! Slaves don't get paid!! :P

Haha Orion slaves don't get paid, how foolish are you? These Gurkhas are enslaved by chains made of money as my dad always used to say

Slaves that made the pyramid got paid, doesn't mean they aren't slaves.
Indian peasants trapped in feudal system get paid, doesn't mean they aren't slaves...

See what I mean?

No they didn't! The builders of the famous Giza pyramids in Egypt were not paid but feasted on food from a massive catering-type operation, the remains of which scientists have discovered at a workers' town near the pyramids.

Archaeologists estimate that more than 4,000 pounds of meat — from cattle, sheep and goats — were slaughtered every day, on average, to feed the pyramid builders. People were taken care of, and they were well fed when they were down there working.

In fact it was the other way around in ancient Egypt. They paid for becoming slaves. “I am your servant from this day onwards, and I shall pay 2½ copper-pieces every month as my slave-fee before Soknebtunis, the great god.” This is part of the translation of 100 of these papyrus slave contracts that Ryholt has spent years trying to collect and analyse.

Becoming a slave for the greater good of the empire was considered a privilege! :azn:

So there! Your argument just got bust!! :P :D

Oh sorry I didn't know India is still British colony
and when Brits are reporting something all world has to say a big YES

Just because your soldiers surrender en-masse in front of taliban does not mean others don't fight them .

I have given sources proving he fought them ..... but I can't do anything about you being butt hurt about that news .

They are formidable warriors, however, not as much as Pashtuns perhaps, as the 'scare' didn't stop one of my uncles from FF slicing three up in 1971 war. He has their kukris on display in his living room.

What is his name and rank?

fought gallantly against odds in East Pakistan, was shot (bullets / shrapnel etc) several times, was found almost dead in a boat, was picked up by meds and returned to duty soon after
This seems qualifiable for awards ala Hilal-i-Jurat or maybe Sitara-i-Jurat. Which does he have?

He has two important ones (out of many) ..... can't remember exactly the Sitara one, however, he also had Tamgha-e-Basalat for which he got agricultural land as a gift (not sure though)....... will check the Sitara from him..........

I don't get all this Gurkha hype coming from the other side. They were subjugated and defeated by the British. They were used as cannon fodder where British troops were deemed too valuable to be used.

They did have one quality, they are very loyal, they were loyal puppies to the British empire, always the first to fight for the Queen just for a pat on the back and happy to kill their fellow Indians for the Crown.

That's why the title is: 200 years of SERVICE (read servitutde) to the crown. The British Empire is long dead, but the puppy still misses its master. What a loyal servant indeed.

Not exactly overrated....... they're pretty formidable and scary little things!

Over rated.

Kabhi bhej to pir inhe hamari taraf

Pardon the pun - who was the slave master who got paid the commission by the Jews? A real Jew? :D

Its Gurkhas from Nepal that join Nepal, Indian and British Army and not Indians. Indians don't or can't join other national armies unlike Pakistan.
Personally I believe Gurkhas should be only in Nepal and Indian Armies.

Bhai Ghurkas are Ghurkas there is no denying it. They are definitely worthy adversaries for our Mujahideen and NLI regiments. The most horrifying battle is when these two titans clash on the mountain plains.

But nevertheless they are soldiers who earned a great amount respect and honour. I say hell with who's who. If he has earned it respect him.

Not now they can't, but they were good loyal dogs before independence.. Pakistanis can't join other national armies either, we have foreign deployments because of commitment to defending our critical allies, same as US deploys troops in South Korea and Japan.
