There is some legendary stories about Yugoslavian standard of living in 70s, tbh it was really the best times in Balkan history.
During 70s with Yugoslavian standard of living you can easily buy this car with SINGLE SALARY. There was few million of these cars only by end of 80s and all that in small country with only 18 million people.

The fact the Yugo passport could get you anywhere in the cold war is pretty interesting

Nah I think the leadership after Tito failed to continue his good policies this the problem when you have good rulers who rule long not groom a successor plus as usual Yankee and the west used every cleveage to gain ground in the Balkans I am not saying the Serbs were angels in the 90s but the Yanks did bit care for the Croats,Bosniaks, Albanians just use them dumped them and made them puppet states
