US policies in every aspect is controlled by different lobbies, no denying the fact.

It's not only high speed railways, all US infrastructures look so rundown. They spend too much money on technologies of killing people.

Few people knew US military industrial complex is about 22% of their GDP, the highest in the world, no wonder US needs war, chaos and turmoil in the world to sell arms.

Barely 30 years ago Beijing was the only city which had the subways in China, just one line and is very short. Now almost all China first, second and even third tier cities have massive subway systems which Shanghai and Beijing rank No.1 and No.2 in the world in length, while in US, rats still run around in the New York subway where piss smell is forever present and tracks look like sewage tunnels.

30 years ago there was not even one highway in China, now China's highway length is far ahead of any others on this planet, What US has been doing except for waging wars around the world?

Many people are marvelled at how advanced US fighters or carriers are, but what do those weapon do you use everyday when you go to work and come back home even if you are an American, what do those weapons have anything to do with your daily life and commute?

Not true. The standard oil drum is gallons. Nineteen is used for transportation. The rest is for petroleum derived products like plastics.

I know you are desperate, but high speed rail is not THE only or even best standard to gauge the technological sophistication of a country. By technology alone, the US is older than your China in that the Industrial Revolution skipped your China. Leaving you in the dust. So now when you have a chance, of course what you built are going to be shinier than what we got. But ultimately it means nothing if what you got -- Americans rejects.

This is nothing more than a bandwidth wasting circle jerk thread.

So how does that make you feel about your high speed rail? I know of people who came from NYC and they have no driver's license. If I am from that environment, probably I would be the same way. But am glad am not from NYC, not that I have anything against NYC.

- Drove literally cross country from east to west then back
- Motorcycled 2000 miles cross country
- Flew cross country
- Shoot
- Off road
- Hunted and dressed a deer

I do feel sorry for you guys. I really do despite our differences on this forum. So many of your countrymen came to the US and experienced the freedoms, physical and psychological, they admitted they do not and cannot have back in China. Yes, the US does have problems. We are not perfect and never claimed to be. The list of what I done? It is not that you cannot do them in China. It is that you are obsessed with the technological growth and deluded yourself into believing that shiny technology is the final arbiter of human happiness. It is YOU who needs help.
