Why target them who are not threat to us? Sirtag Aziz

There is no such thing as good or bad Taliban. It was because of this policy that we are suffering today. This statement nullifies the good will created with the new regime in Afghanistan and an implicit acknowledgement of the double talk that Pakistan has been accused off. Because letting terrorist who are bombing your neighbours stay in your country, vindicates earlier Pentagon report & India’s stance that Pakistan covertly nourishes terrorism. But then a party that has prominent members like Rana Sana Ullah with close links with LeJ & SSP, must have many others having soft spot for the terrorists.

Nawaz Sharif is not stupid. Timing suggests that this is deliberate and that vindictive Nawaz Sharif is avenging his humiliation because Gen Raheel Sharif started operation Zarb-e-Azb without his explicit approval.

Perhaps General Raheel should be prosecuted for taking the illegal step of launching a military operation without proper approval - if what you say is true.

The damage is already done:

Sartaj censured in Senate over controversial interview - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: The controversial interview of Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz with BBC is continuously under criticism by his political opponent and opposition in the upper House of the Parliament, which has sought an explanation through a calling attention notice on Wednesday.

Aziz had told BBC Urdu that Pakistan was not going to target militant groups that do not “pose a threat to the state”.

The statement received harsh criticism by political rivals and on social media. The country's premier spy agency has long been accused of harbouring the “good” and “bad” Taliban narrative.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), however, tried to clarify that the statement was reported out of context. “The advisor made the statement in a historical context,” FO spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said in a statement on Tuesday.

The calling attention notice was moved in the Senate today by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar.

“Attention is drawn to a matter of sufficient public importance namely the Advisor’s interview to the BBC on Nov 17, 2014 admitting the selective nature of operation against militant groups, taking on some while leaving others,” said the notice.

The statement by the Advisor Foreign Affairs is a reversal of the stated policy of across the board action against all militants reiterated recently also by the security establishment, the calling attention notice added.

“A disturbing distinction has been made between militants challenging the state of Pakistan and those, using Pakistan’s soil, launch violent operations against other states in the region. It exposes Pakistan to the charge that it is running with the hare and hunting with the hound in the fight against militants.”

“This highly disturbing admission at the highest level of policy formulation of turning a blind eye to non-state actors bent upon destabilising foreign states through violent means is a matter of sufficient public importance and calls for urgent attention,”
it said.

Sartaj aziz is a true statesmen, and he has got my respect for being a peace activist. He's someone who'll remain quiet, yet very active and dedicated to his task.Hopefully he'll keep on doing the good work.

Correct, you must focus your energies on the ones that are a big threat to you first, achieve the stability and put yourself back towards some economic progress. No more hanky panky or fearless adventurism that may use up the precious resources you have left in your bag.

If four men have created a monster, then those four men should cooperate to get rid of it as well.If 3 of them are satisfied that the monster is dead or "like dead".And there should be no more bloodshed and the war is over. Then we too have cleaned those bloodstains in our backyard. It'll soon start looking bright ,clean and green once more with a bit of pruning that we are doing already.

The world has rectified herself of her mistakes & moved on.We are on our way of rectification. And we should be ready to move on as well. The good thing is that this time we haven't brushed anything under the carpet at least.
