Afsoos sa'd afsoos...the constant bickering about one's ethnicity being better or welcoming over the others or such and such ethnicity is using more resources than the others on this thread remind me of the following two ashaars of Sir Allama Iqbal (R.A):

Kuch Bari Baat Thi Hote Jo Musalmaan Bhi Aik!

I wish and pray that we all become deserving of this great Country; the Country have given us a lot its time we give it what Pakistan deserve from us and for starters let just shed these superficial animosities on the basis of caste, language and ethnicities and start calling ourselves Pakistanis at every forum...Pakistanis who are indivisible under "Percham-e-sitara-o-hilal".

Who is called himself now MUHAJIR, must be hanged him till death.... They are the third generations of their forefathers.....and still they are calling themselves MUHAJIRS, they must call themselves Pakistanis...........

In Karachi Migrant Communities have Preserved their Cultures and DISCOURAGE Marginalization while Punjabis PRIDE itself in it and that is the reason why Muhajir Word is acceptable to them despite having another word Urdu Speaking available. People migrated from UP and Hyderabad might have no problem with the word Urdu Speaking but when Memon(Gujrati Speakers), Biharis(Bihari Speakers) comes to the equation it cant be use for them because their first Language isnt Urdu neither their culture so in order to Unite all of them in single platform Muhajir word is used. It doesnt have a Literal meaning rather its more like a term agreeable for all those Communities who have retain their Cultures after Migration.

The question comes to same place....this is their 3rd generation in Pakistan.......and you are telling me they can't speak Urdu or adopt Urdu.......I am Punjabi myself i might speak Punjabi at home....but my national language is Urdu that i know very well.......and before Punjabi i call myself a Pakistani then Punjabi or something else..............And this trend basically adopted from Indians.......If you are living in abroad and you ask any Indian where you from.....he will not tell you that i am from India....he will at first place reply i am from Kerala, i am from, Kernatka, i am from Jarkhand, i am from Rajistan......
and if you as ask same question to Pakistanis mostly Pakistani at first place will reply i am from Pakistan....this is my personal observation......

Punjab is for anyone who wants to live there

no if and buts
thats you @Armstrong :pop:

karachi mostly are from Punjab or interior sindh , very little locals karachietes are in the police department or from rangers .. there is very little presence of local karachietes in the police department
So you have effeciently differentiated interior Sindhi, Punjabi and Karachietes ......Mind you all living in Karachi or working there are Karachietes....When you learn to share will you face less problems...Prob with MQM is you guys think all of Karachi is for yourself!

When in reality coming from india you should be grateful that you got a place in a city that ALREADY had human beings before MQM touch foot!

Its not about what language you speak its about complete Culture that you followed. Even if you speak Urdu everywhere and use Punjabi at home you would still be attached with Punjabi culture and Tradition while Urdu Speakers have there own Cultures and Tradition even Cousines as well while Migrant Communities like Memon(Gujrati Culture) Biharis even Bangalis and Kuchis are also attached with cultures, Traditions and Cousines of their own in Karachi so that is why Collective term of Muhajirs is utilize to ACCOMMODATE all of them as Urdu Speakers can accommodate one specific Community only not all of them and as Memons, Biharis, Bangalis and Kuchis are not Urdu Speaking Community but follows the same culture as their Indian Kins from Gujrat, Bihar, Bangal, Kuch etc so Muhajir term is utilize so that they are not Marginalized within Urdu Speakers.
