Why does the Indian air force need to operate so many rotary wing aircraft? Isn't it the norm in most countries for ARMY AVIATION to operate choppers? Even future acquisitions (such as the LCH) are gonna add a lot of helicopters to the IAF inventory. I know our army operates a lot of helicopters too (including the future LCH), but far less than the IAF. I personally feel the IAF should stick to fixed wing aircraft, as is the case in Pakistan, The USA and most other countries. I base this on one important point:
Most of the IAF copters are used for ARMY logistics anyway!
Constructive comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think operating a large fleet of choppers is not bad at all but their maintainence my cost toomuch..

well dedicated choppers like LCH which are anti tank ones are helpfull in killing the enemy tanks helping the ground troops to advance

they are good countermeasures for subs lurking inside our seas.....

and also quick deployment of troops to frontlines
evacuating wounded & dead soldiers from battle grounds...

Yes but why the IAF? Shouldn't all of the above mentioned points be the ARMY'S role?
