Why China, with same size of power grid, won’t suffer outage like in the US

Jokes on you pal, the prices you are showing is the cost of Wholesale energy. Those with a smart meters can switch from wholesale provider like Griddy to a fixed rate provider the same day.
Generally barring unforeseen circumstances people pay 2.5 cents per kilowatt/hr while people on fixed rate plan pay on average 11 cents a kilowatt hr.
I don't care what those prices are, but one of your citizens will "pay $450 for one day".
and another one:
Now, his bill has skyrocketed over $7,000 in the last two days, he said. As of Wednesday, Pierce owes Griddy $8,162.73 for the month of February—a shocking price considering the bill for his two-story house was $387.70 just last month. Last February, Pierce said he only paid $330.

and
As Texas deep freeze subsides, some households now face electricity bills as high as $10,000

as your so-called Wholesale energy, also very impressive.
Texas wholesale electric prices spike more than 10,000% amid outages

it is quite clear that Texans are not under the general circumstance, lol

people who have no power are frozen in harsh cold,
people who have power will face outrageous bills.
we know we know, it's capitalism, free-market, but inhuman.

...what is happening there has undoubtedly shown that the US is an ordinary country with serious shortcomings.

The extreme cold weather in the central and southern US has caused at least 31 deaths, leaving million families to endure days without electricity. Texas, a US state with huge resources, has been severely hit. This is not supposed to be the scenario in the US - the world's most developed country. But what kind of scenarios are supposed to happen there? COVID-19 has taken nearly 500,000 lives in the country. Was that supposed to occur? Yet it is happening.

The US has once again fallen down from the altar. The Chinese people care about this because we used to treat the country as a standard of modern governance. Since the 1980s, many Chinese intellectuals idealized the US, and took it for granted that the US-style system could effectively eliminate various drawbacks that the Chinese people hate to see in our own country.

But China has developed to a level where we no longer need to look up to the US. The internet has brought us more information. And a growing number of people have gone to the other side of the Pacific, and we seem to have "rediscovered" the US.

This allows us to see that the country has acted very poorly in many aspects. For example, the US did not act as well as China in terms of certain disaster relief services and the fight against COVID-19.

There used to be grassroots Chinese officials who would talk about "stupid things." They caused online public outcries every time they did so. Those officials have been severely punished with dismissals. But no matter how serious the matter, there has not been any Chinese official that would act like Tom Boyd, the mayor of Colorado City, Texas. He directly scolded all people of his city. Shockingly, he said, "Sink or swim, it's your choice!" He also said that, "no one owes you or your family anything." He said he was "sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout" and blamed "a socialist government" for the dire situation.

Boyd has resigned. But if he were a Chinese official, this would not only be a question of resignation. He would at least suffer a "social death" from society.

We used to believe that officials who come into power through elections would not speak to common people in such a way. But the fact is, even elections failed to stop such an unscrupulous official from seizing power. Worse, perhaps he thought he was elected to the position and thus can ignore some people. As a result, he was treading on their toes with such a harsh statement.

It is a severe natural disaster after all, and we cannot say that the US is an ugly country just because many Americans are also suffering from man-made calamities. But what is happening there has undoubtedly shown that the US is an ordinary country with serious shortcomings. Actually, every country has its own problems, so the US should focus on solving its own woes rather than denouncing other countries.

China is precisely the country that invests in more efforts to improve and adjust itself. Chinese society and government attach great importance to drawing lessons from any mistake or misconduct. In the past, we thought the West had better capabilities of self-correction, but now this is proving to be false. We have overestimated them.

China is doing better and better than them in correcting its own problems. This is why China has made rapid progress in recent years.

unforeseen circumstances?
don't you think the US got too many unforeseen circumstances in recent years? and terribly dealt with, almost every time.
covid-19:they laughed at China, but now they got near 30 million cases and half million death.
riot:they attacked China‘s dealing with HK,but they got capitol riot.
blackout:they laughed at south China's blackout last December, what about now?
It seems that karma indeed is a bitch, and it will bitch these bitches much more bitchy.

and we may see many more of this kind of interesting……eh……unforeseen circumstances in the future.

Katrina Hurricane was unforeseen, as well.

South China Black out was only for certain areas not the whole province nor a failure of the grid system, it was because some officials wanted to control. Emissions and meet their KPI. The positive way to look at it, Chinese bureaucrats do try their best to meet their KPIs even if it meant sacrificing economic growth. The shows you even the low level officials are performance driven.

That was also a huge fck up. National guards were used to shoot blacks instead of providing relief. I can't blame the hungry blacks for looting.

first you are feeling sorry for someone living in a two story house - lol.
Second, if someone is dumb enough not to switch to fixed cost supplier when the price of whole sale energy rockets from 2.6 c /kw/h to 9 $ kw/h - they deserve to get robbed by their energy provider to learn a lesson.

Besides at 9$ the guy used 400 kw of electricity in one day. Unless he has a fusion reactor in his basement I have no idea how anyone can use 400 kw, if he paid 387.70$ in January, he used 1550 kw in January. So how does one use 880 kw in two days? Something doest't add up with Mr Pierce story.

In the US, someone is always after your money, if you aren't careful you get fleeced.
Is it any different in China? I don't think so..

Depends once again on the leader, his or her competency and often sanity. You do suffer the occasional megalomaniacs that kill millions.
I lived in several democracies including the ultra socialist Norway. I've also lived in countries ruled by absolute authoritarianism.

December to February 2020, Jiang Chaoliang's competency was tested and he failed miserably.
So the general assertion that any form of government is without flaws is laughable.

This video may help you understand better how Chinese government works in the situation like that in Texas. From an American Expat point of view. Start watching from 2:20. And of course, you can simply dismiss it as "commie propoganda".

Indeed. In this sort of failures, the best the US regime can think of is start shooting people.

This always solves incompetence in good governance.

Thanks, I don't know how long you've lived in the US. A lot of people remember Clinton for his liaison with Monica Lewinsky. They've forgotten :

  • Record-Low African American Unemployment
  • Closing the Book on A Generation of Deficits. In 1992, the deficit was $290 billion, a record dollar high. This year, the Administration expects the budget surplus to be at least $76 billion, the largest budget surplus in history.
  • The Lowest Inflation in More than 30 Years. Since 1993, the inflation rate has averaged just 2.5 percent -- the lowest average inflation rate since the Kennedy Administration.
  • Nearly 19 Million New Jobs -- more than 90 percent of the new jobs have been created in the private sector, the highest percentage in 50 years
US politics is extremely unforgiving, Ted Cruz may not win another election, Ted Cruz isn't incompetent he exercised poor judgement and he should and will pay for it.

As for the Chinese ideal and meritocracy of state officials - how do you gloss over all the new and lingering socio-political issues in China. Am I to believe white monkeys that live in the little expat bubbles for a reliably accurate commentary on Chinese governance? I will concede there is merit in both ideologies and neither is without flaws. The way many Chinese fawn over their government on PDF makes me suspect their motives especially since their truths often cannot be reconciled by personal accounts of friends, family and colleagues that live or have lived in China.

Come to China once. I am here walking in the streets with reliable power and water and no mask on. Lololol

I really can not understand why you guys no shame when lying.
On which world did any Chinese city power shortage for one week?

According RFI,Shenzhen, which reffered in the news you post has once blackout for no nore than one hour, according to people live there, 有些地区停电时间不长,约数分钟便恢复,也有部分地区停电持续数十分钟.

Some area has blackout for sevral minutes to get recovered, and others tens of minutes, but none longer than one hour.

Besides, the black-out start at 0:00AM, most of the people go to sleep at that time, so the next morning most wont even notice that if they dont read the news.

We all know how much the insecure RSS brigade would be jumping up and down if there was even just a rumor that this had happend to a single Chinese city, not an entire province/state of the most big mouthed nation in the world next to only India perhaps. Yet here they crawl in defense of Americans dying, homes being wrecked and burning down left and right because their companies are screwing them over and total government incompetence or rather nonexistance thereof because all their pseudo "democracy" is producing is frauds and cronies not governors. 😂

So you are a democrats? Bill Clinton may be the best president in recent memory, and I can even forgive him for his affair with Lewinski.

US politics is far from "extremely unforgiving", China's is and ruthless. You mentioned Jiang Chaoliang, the former Hubei CCP boss, in your previous post. He suffered an "instant political carrer death". He is among 3000+ Chinese government officers who lost job due to incompetance in the fight against the pandemic, and their crime is simply not performing at best possible level, "you could have done that!" How many US federal and state employees should be fired based on this standard?

I think Ted Cruz has more than 50% chance to be re-elected as he has plenty of time to turn around. So no punishment.

Everything being equal, those "white monkeys" have one thing above you when it comes to commenting on China affair, they are living or lived in that country. So they have /had first hand experience. You can only rely on 2nd hand info which could very likely be "biased, skewed or distored", even they labelled themselves "free media", which itself, IMO, is the first step of brainwashing. Why would I have to read anything else if I have "free media" already?

Chinese PDF members are merely trying to make their dissenting voice heard in the world where the West dominants the discourse on China subject, which almost always against China and Chinese interests, especially in today's political envirnment.

I do agree with you there is merit in both governance systems, but "Can we all get alone" and learn from each other and make life better for all?

I guess more than 70 of them died due to power outage.

This is so India-ish.
