Militants 'behead Pakistani troops after crossing border from Afghanistan'
Militants 'behead Pakistani troops after crossing border from Afghanistan' | World news | guardian.co.uk

Pakistani military says 13 soldiers were killed, including seven who were beheaded, after attack on patrol in Upper Dir region

Militants have crossed into Pakistan from Afghanistan and killed 13 troops, beheading seven of them, according to the Pakistani military.

Officials said militants from Afghanistan had crossed into the north-western Upper Dir region on Sunday night and clashed with Pakistani forces on a patrol. Six Pakistani troops are said to have been killed immediately. Seven who went missing were beheaded, while four have not been found. The military's statement also said Pakistani troops had killed 14 of the militants.

Pakistan's new prime minister, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, said he would complain directly to the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai. "We have strongly protested and I will, too, God willing, talk about this to Karzai," said Ashraf, speaking in Karachi.

The Pakistani Taliban say their fighters carried out the raid, but their statement did not say whether the attackers had crossed over from Afghanistan. They said Pakistani claims of militant casualties were false.

The border skirmish is a new sign of tensions between the uneasy neighbours. Pakistan has complained that militants use parts of Afghanistan for sanctuary to stage attacks inside Pakistan. That claim helps Islamabad counter frequent US and Nato complaints that militants behind much of the violence in Afghanistan come from Pakistan.

The deputy border police commander for eastern Afghanistan, Major Mohammad Ayub Hassainkhail, said the Pakistani military had informed police on Monday that one of their patrols was missing. He denied the militants had crossed from Afghanistan, saying: "They have plenty of militants on their side. Why would the militants cross over from Afghanistan? I strongly reject this claim."

BLA claims responsibility of the blast in Quetta: 13 killed | DAWN.COM

QUETTA: At least 13 people were killed and 30 others injured, six among them seriously, when a bomb placed in a car parked near the house of a former minister of state on Arbab Karam Road exploded on Friday evening.
The proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The powerful blast was heard far and wide. It smashed windows of several buildings.
At least six vehicles parked in the area and 10 nearby houses caught fire after the explosion and were destroyed.

“Unknown men put the explosive material into a vehicle and parked it near the house of former state minister Mir Naseer Mengal,” DIG Operation Nazir Ahmed Kurd said, adding that the explosion occurred at around 7pm.

He said 13 people had been killed and another 30 injured who were in hospitals.

Intelligence sources put the number of the dead at 15. Seven of the dead are said to be the guards of Shafique Mengal, son of Naseer Mengal.

Security officials were of the view that Shafique Mengal might have been the target of the attack.

DIG Investigation Hamid Shakeel told Dawn that about 40-50kg of explosive material had been used for the blast.

He said that explosive material had also been planted in another vehicle, parked near the house, adding that the bomb disposal squad defused it.

The injured were taken to the Bolan Medical College hospital and Civil Hospital.

According to doctors, six of the injured were in critical condition. Some of the injured were identified as Abdul Qudoos, Qadeer Mola Bakhsh, Gul Muhammad, Muhammad Rafeeq, Abdul, Khalid Khan, Karam Khan, Abdul Hameed, Faisal Khan, Dost Muhammad, Musawwar Khan, Abdullah Khan, Amanullah, Afzal Khan, Lal Muhammad, Javed Ahmed, Abdul Rasheed, Fazal Kareem, Muhammad Yunus and Abdul Kareem.

According to sources, Shafique Mengal had returned to Quetta from his native Khuzdar district about an hour before the blast and was in the house.
His guards started firing in the air after the blast. They allegedly manhandled some journalists who were there to cover the incident.
Law-enforcement personnel cordoned off the area and started investigation.

Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani condemned the blast and ordered an immediate inquiry.
Claiming responsibility for the attack, BLA spokesman Meerik Baloch told reporters on phone that it was a suicide attack carried out by Darwaish Baloch who he said was a member of their Majeed Shaheed Brigade.

AFP adds: Police said the majority of the dead were passersby making it even harder to piece together what happened.

We are facing difficulties to know about the nature of the blast because many of the witnesses who were present at the scene have been killed,” said DIG Kurd.

Government should take emergency measures to stop violence against Hazara Community in Balochistan: Imran Khan

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has strongly condemned attack on a Quetta bound bus carrying Shia pilgrims from Iran which led to loss of 13 innocent lives. Terming the attack barbaric, Imran Khan said that the incident is part of the systematic wave of violent attacks against the Hazara community. 60 people belonging to the Hazara community have been brutally killed during the past six months. Imran Khan stated that there could be serious repercussions if the dangerous trend of increasing frequency and intensity of violent attacks against the Hazara Community is not reversed. The security situation of Balochistan is extremely uncertain and continued attacks against a particular community can push the province into a state of complete chaos. Constant failure to ensure security of the Hazara community despite loss of so many innocent lives is criminal negligence on part of the government. The situation demands the government to undertake emergency measures to stop violent attacks against the community. Imran Khan demanded stern action against the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi which has openly claimed responsibility of this barbaric attack. PTI Chairman expressed complete solidarity with the Hazara community and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

PTI condemns brutal cross border attack on Pakistani Soldiers
By Arsalan T. Ghumman | 931 Views | Article Rating | Press Release, National [Click to print]

Lahore 26th June 2012: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood said the party leadership strongly condemns the brutal killing of Pakistani soldiers by Afghanistan based militants. Chairman Imran Khan has expressed his deepest condolences with the bereaved families and prayed for the Shaheeds.

Shafqat said that this brutal incident has exposed several key issues that need addressing. How come the militants were able to mass together and launch an attack across the border without being interdicted by Afghan/NATO forces? If they were not seen, it shows massive incompetence and if they were, then it raises very serious questions about collusion with the militants and complicity of the Afghan government.

To ensure that there is no repeat of this attack, it is imperative that the government takes up this matter at the diplomatic level and makes it clear to the Afghan government that these attacks across the borders would not be tolerated.

PTI demands that the government should take the nation into confidence and bring all the facts of this brutal episode to public notice.

hope he keep doing that including the crunnt incidents in fata & turbat!

.
Imran Khan seems like the only leader with guts. He's the only one whose criticized these groups, and they call him "taliban khan"(they also call him "jewish lobby", so somehow he's both taliban and Jewish - I don't know how PML-N fans swallow this propaganda).

He's also the only one not to give rallies hiding behind bullet proof glass(with the attendees kept 1 km away), only one to give a rally in Baluchistan, only one to have toured in the tribal areas extensively. And the only one to criticise Malik Riaz.
