Since Modi/ India cannot defy the USA on the affairs of Bangladesh, she should not count on India to help her get rid of American sanctions.
With sanctions in place, the BAL party cannot repress the Opposition and some new formula will be there to hold a fair election in which her BAL party will lose.
In the current world we are living in Bangladesh is simply not a priority for USA. I think that is a good thing in general
You say BD is not a priority, but the continuous US actions prove BD is a top priority to the USA. Even it is more than India because of its geographical location.
Even India is worried about BD's internal politics which may change making BD an Indian enemy unlike now. India wants security on its border and a leeway treatment in times of war.
To both America and India, BD is a top-priority nation.
For India Bangladesh is of moderate to vital importance.
For USA Bangladesh is of little value. I do not know what US actions you are referring to. The top priority is not to have millions of Bangladeshis refugees streaming to other countries. Nobody wants a hostile Bangladesh but if Bangladesh wants to align with China or some fanatic brand of Islam it is not the end of the world.

That is 18,000 a year that get in. I'd say 90% are turned away or are deported, even from Central American countries or Mexico. That is the highest number from ANY country. Are you expecting all of India to pick up and leave?

Look, no offense. But he’s right. Pakistan is important to the US because they have nukes and are perpetually on the verge of implosion.
BD is very important to India and as a consequence, somewhat worthy of attention to the US. But thats really where it begins and ends. This isn’t a bad thing. Our futures are bright, but it is only bright together.
