What's new

Who destroyed our hope?

Oh man, all of you... What destruction of hope are you talking about?

Do we want an economy like that of China in India?
Are we willing to have a single party dictate terms - economic and otherwise?
Are we ready to surrender all personal freedom to run only after money - all the time?
Are we going to copy every single thing in the world and make cheap clones?
Are we interested in toppling US as a superpower?
Are we conditioned to impose a single culture on the entire country and kill its diversity?
Are we willing to use state machinery to make workers work on ridiculously low wages?
Last but not the least - are we capable of hiring thousands to spawn fake data in international forums?
All of these are documented and not disputed. @DRAY - inputs please.

We can't and we should not. Stop comparing India's economic model with China. Compare with South Korea, or Japan - learn from them. We have a different requirement, our needs and solutions are different. Things are looking up.

Once these are through, reforms will pick pace again. Having the best city in the world and still housing a third of its own people below the poverty line is not the economic model we should aspire to emulate. We should try to be more inclusive in our approach.

Nothing of that sort is required.

They just need to pass the GST act, amend land bill and modify nrega.Do this and we will be more than 8% in a couple of years. This year is 5.7(expectation) and it will be close to 7% in 3 years.Anything beyond that will require more reforms.

Last of all stop blaming nehru,he did well for a prime minister of a newly freed nation.

Amending this LAND BILL is of prime importance
To put it mildly
Maa behen EK karde hai industry kii
Bagwaan kare MODI AUR CO jaldi Isko amend kare

China is the only country in the history of the world, that has achieved sustained average double-digit growth for three decades in a row.

No other country has done that, not in recorded history.

China's double-digit growth phase was an anomaly, and fueled by a very specific set of internal conditions within China itself.

Not to mention a world where we could easily seize the planet's export market with little resistance, or the era of debt-fueled consumer spending and credit just before the credit crunch.

India is facing a different world now, where they will have to fight Southeast Asia for every single export order, and the end of the era of cheap credit, which left permanent scars in the psyche of a generation after the 2008 credit crunch. I don't see anything in India's internal or external conditions which makes it likely to repeat the anomaly of double-digit growth for three decades, like China did.

Agreed what china has achieved is indeed historic but I think we can make it we can make it to 9%
This man can do it

By what account he will achieve 9 percent economy grow, Modi can't perform miracle with godlike power. You put too much hope into 1 man to revive India economy without take into account, the developed world still suffer from the credit crunch, majority of nations still not recover from the 2008 financial crisis and many economy still not regain their grow pre 2008 trajectory.

Man are u in a school or what??
U keep posting as if chinese have got somehow powers from the aliens to do impossible job never done before on earth.

The trick is simple, use cheap labour to make cheap products. We need to shore up the infrastructure and power generation in next 6-7 years and pass some new laws to make it happen, its not rocket science.

Every nation take on different development path at different time. You can not use Chinese model of economy development to gauge how India economy reform will perform within the next 2 to 3 yrs, China economy took off after 15 yrs deep into their economy transformation with majority of company relocated their production after many infrastructure completion and put into operation. China wasn't in competition with other nation for cheap labor job.

We are not africa right now that we need 15 years,,we have crossed 2 trillion mark ourselves.
And yes we cannot grow at bizarre 14 % that china achieved for some years but a comfortable 7-8% is more than enough to propel us to 8-9 trillion over next 20 years.

And thats gonna happen:agree:

You talk as if god has given Chinese so especial powers
We may not be able to achieve crazy 13-14% but will easily achieve 9-10%

India highest economy grow were 8 percent base on service and agriculture sector. Many corporation are profit driven which demand cheap labor to maximize their profit, no corporation willing to break up their production chain and to have one segment of their production and another in China. This kind of arrangement not feasible to maximize their profit.

U forget to say we achieved 9% with almost nil manufacturing .
Just think when we start doing that right, what can we do_Our services sector is already very strong.

I talked about China economy need at least 15 yrs of building up their manufacture base to finally achieve their highest grow plus the advantage of the developed economy enjoy their high time with their stable economy condition. India as of now in a time of the world economy in the transition recovery from economy downturn, majority of all the nations need job even with the developed country.

Our infrastructure is not that bad that u are comparing it to china in early 90's.
Its certainly not world class but in another 10 years its the priority no 1.

Since India with no manufacture base how can you expect the population to acquire enough to skill to efficiently producing manufacture good?
