I have voted for Singapore, largely because the word used is leading.

Singapore leads ASEAN in most of the factors.

Yet, Singapore is not the leading power of ASEAN.

The leading power of ASEAN is, without doubt, Indonesia. Not only is it giant, in land area, and population, it also has a GDP that is larger than the next 3 nations combined.

.
Possibly Laos.

Giving the leadership to a small, neutral and stable country like Laos will not create quarrel among Asean members
Indonesia? Too many problems
Vietnam? in future maybe, not now.
Singapore: It is currently the leading country in Asean, but I guess few would agree about its leadership.
Phillipines or Malaysia or Thailand: no way.

Probably we should not just focus on the size of GDP.
Singapore seems to have a bigger say on the international stage.

Possibly Laos.

Why not Vietnam?
I think in the future Vietnam has better chance.
Stability is very important.

In most indicators of development, except GDP+GDP per capita, Vietnam is second only to Singapore in Asean now, including education, health care, life expectancy, etc. We are also the largest trading partner of China in Asean.

However, in case of Vietnam, size of GDP does matter.

Philippine, they have a good president who is the best leader in Asean now  In SEA, i only remember his name and my prime minister. Indo is a candidate on the list, they are ambitious people.

I do agree with Mr Duterte about his attitude towards the outside interference in the internal affairs of his country.. However, I do not believe in "strong-man" or charismatic leadership style, a la Phidel Castro, Putin or many other world leaders. In most cases, they will bring chaos and/or misery to their countries once they step down. I would prefer East Asian style leadership, who talk less and keep low profile.

Sorry, I do not believe in university ranking from any organization.

Many people from various countries, who graduated from the well-known US or UK universities, are working under me and except English, I do not find them any more capable than my Vietnamese colleagues, who graduated from Vietnamese universities. All depends on the quality of input 12th grade students, which Vietnam is among the best country in the world.

University is more about researches than producing qualified labor.

Without a doubt Indonesia.
It has the population,economy,industry,resources,minerals etc.
Indonesia will be a top ten economy in the future.
