What's new

Which Book are you reading

1. finished reading naseeruddin shah's memoir, "and then one day"... quite a colorful life and quite a irreverent attitude to the typical bombay film... highly recommend.

for the pakistani members... his first wife was a much older pakistani lady...

2. i will return to "listening to grasshoppers" by arundhati roy...

3. there is also "shikwa and jawaab-e-shikwa" of iqbal, translated into english by mustansir dalvi...

i went through the aligarh part of the book... he hasn't mentioned... i am interested in knowing about that incident... please do tell...

The monk who sold his ferrari :)

sincerely, there are much better books in the world than those by indian "spiritual gurus" who were formerly iit monkeys and software coolies.

you can try the dune series, or ben bova's books, or those i have listed above... :-)

I went to Aligarh for my cousin sisters graduation in 90. We attended a wedding of a renown Muslim family. Three generation of professors in Aligarh university. My cousins friends from the family told me the story. And the woman involved is now married with kids lives in Delhi.
I asked, because it is customary in this subcontinent to omitt bitter truths I auto biographies. I admire Nasiruddin as an actor.just got curious about this book.that's all.

well, naseer sahaab lived quite a rangeela life... there is another lady who came during his "national school of drama" days... he mentions her as just "r"... there may be more ladies...

truly, he was quite the playboy... :-)

but i am surprised that he having such a great presence-manner-speech never became interested in long-term politics, especially socialism... he does mention a union involvement during his "film and television institute of india" student days..
