What's you people's view on marijuana.

Being a postgraduate student in medicine I read during all of my education years that weed is bad. I tried weed once out of curiosity as someone told me to list out bad effects of weed after searching from web. I tried but all the results show positive effects and few to none negative effects. schizophrenia is one being exacerbated by weed. BTW studies have mostly inconclusive in pathogenesis of schizophrenia.
Lung function improves but allergic bronchitis may be increase by moderate level. Mind you, it's a tree burning but nowhere near same negative effects as tobacco. Also edible doesn't have most of the perceived negative notion as smoking weed.
BTW what's your opinion on this.

My opinion is DON'T
Anything that'll have you hooked and addicted for life isn't a wise choice.
Unlike you, i know nothing about medicine, but one thing i can tell is after some years, you won't have problems that at this point of time you might try to solve by contraband and at that time you won't have to use weeds, but you won't be able to quit and this invariably would have negative impact on lot of good things that will come in your life.
So as they say best thing to overcome any problem is use of will-power. In my case my mates in engineering tried (unsuccessfully) to convince me and take up smoking. I see my resolve not to take up smoking as one of my successes in life today after good 16 years.

Cannabis also know as marijuana is weed as well! Technically speaking, weed is an undesirable plant in a crop/locality. Cannabis is a weed and is used as a drug in various forms. Chars is a product made out of this weed. So is bhang.

Long term use has an overall negative effect, for a healthy minded & bodied person. But it is nowhere as bad as alcohol abuse and far better than many highly addictive medicines (such as Xanax etc). But saying that every individual has different tolerance levels to chemicals. As with any drug/intoxicant, earlier highs will be better than the subsequent ones thus intake will increase - leading to addiction. And it is far far far (x more) less damaging to the brain than MDMA.

And then there are types - Sativa (mind - and physically active) and Indica (body - veg stage/couched/stoned/numb body). For medicinal purposes (chronic pains & muscle spasms patients), as you would have researched as a medical student, it is better and less damaging than most high strength prescription meds that come with dangerous and long term side effects.

Biggest problem with street weed (that is usually Indica) is not knowing what all it has been laced with. Home growing dealers spray the buds with all sorts of chemical and these chemicals can do serious and permanent damage to the brain.

Smoking weed is awful. Vaporising for the highest and cleanest THC hit (if one smokes weed and hasn't vaporised, then you don't know what clean THC really does), and grow your own (not easy) or pull a favour from one who is growing for self medicinal purposes.

On a side note, postgraduate medical students and psychiatrists are an interesting bunch. The antipsychotic drugs some experiment with is quite shocking!!

Postu dana

Don't know about Postu Dana but in Iran there is a spice used in cooking that is a type of cannabis (albeit a very weak strain).

Posut Dana is from Opium plant, not cannabis. It is not addictive and not a drug. Used in variety of foods.
