Who is this guy? :what:

In brief.....He was a nationalist leader from Bengal during our freedom movement. As he was lenient to the revolutionaries and socialist, he came in conflict with Gandhiji. A briliant student- ranked 4th in ICS and then decided to join freedom movement. He left Congress and establist Forward Blocks. He was definately most dangerous in the opinion of the British, so he was either kept in prison or in house arrest. He escaped from Kolkata and reach USSR via Peshwar and Afghanistan. His intention was to get help from socialist Russia to defeat imperial England. But he failed as Soviet joined the allies. He moved to Europe. During this time Azad Hind Fouz was formed with Indian soldiers of British army who were imprisoned by the Japanese. Subhash Bose was brought to Japan to take command of Azad Hind Fouz. It fought against the British and reached up to N-E of India. When the Brits were fearing his arraival with an Indian Army might prompt Indians to rebel against them ill-fate struck Azad Hind Fouz. Japan surrendered. Later many soldiers and officers had to surrender as they had nothing to continue the battle. During this time Subhash Bose died in a plane crash in Taiwan. However there are enough reason to believe that this accident was not real and news of his death was spread to fool the British. Three commission have been set up to enquire about his death but they gave contradictory reports. The trial of Azad Hind Fouz officers awaken the people of India (of course Un-divided) and whole country came to protest. All prominent leaders of Congress and Muslim league including Jinnah came in support of them. One of these officers Maj. Hobbibur Rahman who had accompanied Subhash Bose on that Fateful journey and survived the crash settled in Pakistan and joined Pakistan Army (with many other Muslim soldiers of Azad Hind Fouz). When you say you have not heard of Bose or his Azad Hind fouz I feel sorry only because many of his followers later served Pakistan Army including Maj. Hobbibur who had last seen him alive. You can google to know more about Bose, Azad Hind Fouz and Trial of its officers.

We conducted a poll in a forum which revealed Subhash Chandra Bose is still the most popular Indian leader among present generation members even though he was not there when India became Independent to take any role for his beloved motherland. His end still a mystery. I just want to know what Pakistan thinks about him, especially present generation. There is no doubt in undivided India his popularity could rival that of Gandhi, Nehru or Jinnah. Many soldiers of INA moved to Pakistan after partition and joined Pakistan Army. Hope they sharede their memory of this great leader and his vision to their coming generations.

With 659 posts , I would assume you would know better than posting a thread in pdf to gage popularity of netaji, here most pakistanis believe they are descendants of arabs, why would they have anything to do with freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh , Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Khudiram Bose, Lt. Colonel Shahnawaz Khan( Major General Mohammad Zaman Kiani who later settled in pakistan). These great men are sons of india and their legacy is our pride. You should not ask opinions of this generation of pakistanis who are more inclined towards praising ancient arab invaders than the modern Freedom fighters who stood up against the british to get freedom for their motherland

It is wrong to judge opinion of whole Pakistan by handful of members. May be new generation may not know about him. But you cant say the same about the elders. Descendants of many INA soldiers live in Pakistan. So they are part of that legecy too. Doesnt matter if few young guy are unaware of him. BTW if we dont share opinion with each other then whats the need of the forum.

No-one gives a crap about this guy!

it's very understandable as there was no leader from current pakistan who contributed towards fighting the British for colonial freedom. Pride in Legacy of independence activists is a very alien feeling to you guys...

Pakistan has disassociated itself from the modern history of the subcontinent, it seems almost that pakistan struggle for freedom was not from the british but from the Secular India... Muslim league,Being a political party to secure the interests of the Muslim diaspora in British India, had never really fought the british and were very happy towing the colonial line. Hence current pakistani generation, i doubt even has heard of legendary revolutionaries who gave the english a bloody nose.

we had sir syed ahmed khan fight against the brits....we had syed ahmed shaheed who fought against non muslims...not brits though...but these people are way before than this guy

Sayeed Ahmed Khan was a great remorfer for the Muslim society. But how did he fight against the British? He asked Muslims to stay away from political agitation against the British and concentrate on their own development first. BTW , can't you abstain from using "this guy' etc while discussing a respectable person?

This generation of pakistanis can never digest the fact that struggle for freedom from colonial oppression was fought by leaders of secular forces. In pakistani opinion showcased in this forum, it was Muslim league that was responsible for freedom of Muslims from the Secularist India, but very comfortably the efforts of all the freedom fighters struggle is disregarded and some times mocked. the reason I asked you SAB to refrain from posting such kind of thread is because this indeed is insult of legacy of Indian freedom fighters which hold no value from a historical perspective to this generation of pakistanis. They would like to have alegacy closer to probably OBL than Subhash Bose for that matter

Sab u know what will be the reaction of members in this forum...u want people to remember him then PLzz post it in IDF...why to bring disgrace to his name ...i dont like people taking $ about him...He was the person i respect the most...even more then Ghandhiji...

Netaji Subhash Bose is tremendously admired by those Pakistanis who know about him , say for example the Pakistani diaspora born and brought up in Britain with a good knowledge of british colonial past and the unbiased history of the subcontinent .

There was a poll on BBC world several years back , Netaji's name was greatly praised and his deeds lauded by several Pakistani members .

He was a different breed of a person , a person with much , much exalted and lofty ideals who was far above petty differences of faith , ethnicity and could sacrifice that for his motherland what other leaders of his generation Nehru, others ...could not even dream of .

He was the "Mustafa Kemal Pasha " India never had ...and had he been alive at independance ....The subcontinent would have developed a million times faster than it did .

Yes.... It is the phrase that best describes him....unfortunately he never came back to his motherland.
